Is this the future of urban socialising?

With a surge in run clubs, club-like fitness studios and community saunas, the wellness world is more sociable than ever these days. And now a pioneering new space has decided to combine multiple elements of feel-good socialising to create the ultimate ‘urban wellness playground’, Shoreditch & Soul.

Shoreditch & Soul: What To Expect

Just opened in East London, the new experimental social wellness space is housed in a former Victorian textile warehouse spanning 35,000 sq ft, with the aim of harnessing connections and uniting people in a new way.

A key draw is The Sensorium, featuring a 40-person sauna, ice baths and mist showers, with a programme of sauna ceremonies, hammams and multi-sensory sound journeys on offer. Shoreditch & Soul is also home to an alcohol-free bar, created by botanical drinks company Karmaceuticals, where you’ll be able to enjoy innovative elixir drinks offering an array of different effects, from boosting energy to promoting relaxation.

Hackney cafe Palm Greens will also be serving nourishing food: think smoothies and salad bowls packed with whole grains and vegetables. And come evening time, the space will play host to supper clubs and dinner events.

An abundance of wellness classes will be on offer including breathwork, sound healing, yoga, strength training and ecstatic dance, as well as events ranging from live music to immersive banquets. A rotating retail space, meanwhile, kicks off with a three-month pop-up from Casa Ágape, which spotlights Latin American brands..

The venue will offer memberships starting at £99 per month, although some classes and events will be available to non-members too.

‘Shoreditch & Soul was created to directly address the pressures so many are facing – offering an inclusive space to recharge and connect,’ said founder Reza Merchant. ‘City dwellers need more than gyms or bars – they need spaces that allow them to connect and have fun, whilst feeling truly replenished.

‘Nearly 70 percent of Londoners struggle at some point with their mental health, so something needs to change. We believe the next generation of wellness hubs belongs in urban environments, where they can have a transformational impact on mental and physical health. With a cultural programme designed to bring people together, and innovative use of sauna culture to reset body and mind, Shoreditch &Soul offers a new way for people to meaningfully and mindfully connect.’
