As part of his journey, George stopped at three very differently designed buildings, all part of PoB’s collection, featuring beautiful bedrooms and delicious food.

The break – which can be followed by any guest – begins 30 miles from London in the Sussex countryside. Gravetye Manor couldn’t feel more English thanks to its pretty gardens set within 1,000 acres of grounds. A stop off in Beaulieu leads the way to The Montagu Arms, with its stunning arts and crafts interior and typical inn exterior. The final stop is Hartwell House & Spa in Buckinghamshire’s Vale of Aylesbury to experience a particularly commanding setting in the flesh: a grand country house with both Jacobean and Georgian sides towering over a lake spanned by the old Kew Bridge.
