5 Short London Walks For Dates

Fall in love in (or with) the city

The rise of walking dates was one good thing to come out of lockdown. Socially distanced dating meant that rather than sitting face-to-face in a café or bar, going for a short walk with a date was one of the only viable options for getting to know someone in person. While you’re enjoying a more relaxed conversation not having to stare into each other’s eyes, ensure you have something nice to look at instead, by picking the best walking spots in the city. Here, we bring you five of the best short walks in London for dates…

South Bank

Big Views: South Bank

If you want a bustling spot with views across the river that’s gorgeous at any time of the day or evening, meander the Jubilee Gardens along the South Bank past the Tate Modern and finish up at Tower Bridge where you can go your separate ways if you’ve had enough or loop across the river and round into Covent Garden if you want to keep getting to know each other.

Regent’s Canal: Little Venice to Camden

Taking you from London Zoo to Camden Lock, this stretch of the Jubilee Greenway is one of the prettiest walks in London, perfect for a sunny city date. Walk past canal barges and boats and if you’re running out of conversation, imagine who’s living aboard and what they’re up to.

Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds

Park Life: Hampstead Heath

Forget the manicured lawns and busy greens of central and explore the enormous nature reserve of Hampstead Heath, with a wilder walking experience and beautiful views. There are 30 ponds, some for wild swimming (although this is a brave date choice) and there is plenty of wildlife to keep an eye out for, too.
