Get the lockdown look
I’ve survived three months wearing just these ten items give or take. Talk about a survival capsule wardrobe!
A wardrobe item I’ve so far spurned but it’s actually incredibly useful for gardening, when a coat makes you too hot (all that digging). Make sure it has deep pockets for twine, secateurs, dog treats and gloves, like Dubarry’s quilted Clonmel.

When I’m not out in the garden, I’m in my slides. With socks. Have you not done that combo yet? It’s a cracker, and I need the socks as my Ugg Fuzettes are peep toe. I love them – they’re pink and fluffy but with a good thick sole so they can happily take a stroll around the garden with a cuppa.

I’ve mentioned it before but I love this Orolay jacket (available on Amazon) – and it outpaces the Barbour when it comes to sheer warmth. It comes in endless colours (but green is always best for parkas, I think), has loads of pockets and is most importantly like wearing a sleeping bag, so keeps you toasty in the cold snaps.
A good navy jumper is a staple, town or country. I’ve lived Navygrey’s Cocoon Funnel which is slightly oversized, looks great on Zoom and is made from superfine Merino wool that is fully traceable.

They’re not the best-looking shoe but that’s not what you need when it comes to a trainer for you daily/weekly/biannual run. On Clouds are very light and very cushioned and don’t have laces to trip you up.
It was bloomin’ freezing at the start of the year. There was no way I was going to be wafting about in a bit of thin cotton or silk (anyway, no one really wears silk pyjamas unless they have an unhealthy relationship with their dry cleaner). Eberjey’s stretch modal pair are unbelievably comfy and warm.

My trusty fleece-lined Sorels have seen me through the coldest of days and the muddiest of walks. They’re not as waterproof as to be able to walk through excessive deep puddles for miles on end (which I tested), but they’re comfortable, warm, waterproof enough – and they’re really pretty.
While the kids can get away with leggings, I’ve been living in tracksuit bottoms. A) They’re comfortable, B) they can go from bedroom to compost heap, which is all I need to ask of them. But you need quality ones to avoid baggy knee syndrome – and for this, head to Sunspel’s in their ultra-soft signature cotton.

Wired, push up, bum-crack disappearing? Pah, be gone. All I want are big knickers and a supportive bra top. I’ve been doing very well with Spanx’s spotlight lace-trimmed stretch-tulle bralette from Net-a-Porter, thank you very much.
You should hear the pride in my voice when I tell my children (for the 15th time this year already) that I was given my Barbour Beadnell for my 18th birthday and it’s still going strong. There’s nothing this jacket won’t see you through.
