The Curriculum

The school offers a broad, inclusive curriculum that fosters curiosity, character and resilience. Following the National Curriculum, it focuses on high expectations and personal growth. The junior school focuses on literacy, numeracy, science, and enrichment like drama and outdoor learning. KS3 includes a full subject range, plus debating and arts. KS4 combines core subjects with options and support. Sixth form offers A levels or BTECs, an EPQ and a lecture programme supporting academic and personal development.

Sport & The Arts

With over 100 co-curricular activities woven into daily life, the school inspires teamwork, creativity and leadership. Students enjoy sports such as rugby, football, netball, hockey and cricket, alongside drama, music, and visual arts. Facilities include an equestrian centre, performing arts spaces and extensive sports grounds. As an All-Steinway school, music is a large part of the community and school life.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is at the heart of school life, ensuring every student feels supported, valued and known. Through a strong house system and dedicated student services team, the school nurtures wellbeing and character development. With a 24/7 health centre, counselling and safeguarding support, care is constant. From the junior school to the boarding houses in year 13, every pupil benefits from a community built on trust, belonging and opportunity.

Scholarship Achievements

In 2025, 75 percent of year 13 leavers secured places at top UK universities like Durham, Southampton and Sheffield, studying competitive courses including law, engineering, dentistry and PPE.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

My philosophy is to set the highest standards for all students, ensuring every young person can flourish. At the Royal Alexandra and Albert School, we nurture independence, character, and ambition within a caring community. This is accomplished through high expectations, personalised support, and enriching opportunities, where every student has the space to thrive and grow.
