Everything We Know So Far About The White Lotus Season 4

Season 3 concluded with an explosive ending – but when will we get to see The White Lotus season 4?
When The White Lotus was renewed for season 3, it felt inevitable. Mike White’s landmark HBO dramedy has fans across the globe and, it seems, across each section of society. As season 3‘s spirituality-focussed drama drew to a close earlier this year, we said a reluctant goodbye to another higgledy-piggledy batch of moneyed guests, our minds already floating further afield…
This just in: the team behind The White Lotus has settled on France for its fourth season, with filming set to get underway (hopefully) in the near future. Here’s everything we know so far about The White Lotus season 4.

The White Lotus Season 4: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More
The White Lotus was renewed for season 4 ahead of the season 3 premiere in February 2025 (with Variety revealing the season 4 renewal on 22 January), meaning a whole new ensemble of troubled yet exuberantly wealthy tourists will land in a glitzy, far-flung destination sometime in the future.
According to HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys, season 4 has been germinating for quite some time: when Bloys visited the season 3 set in Thailand in December 2023, series creator Mike White pitched his season 4 concept. The executive reportedly responded that if White wants to do a fourth season, HBO will do a fourth season.

Where Will The White Lotus Season 4 Be Set?
Season 1 was set in Hawaii, season 2 took us to Sicily, and season 3 whisked us off to Thailand – but where will we land in The White Lotus season 4? And does another new season spell another new continent?
Not necessarily, according to HBO programming executive Francesca Orsi. ‘We’re going on some location scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,’ Orsi told Deadline in February 2025. ‘I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.’
While fans pondered the possibility of Africa or South America, Orsi called a return to Europe ‘likely’, adding there are ‘some countries on the map that we talked about, but nothing to report on until they actually go location scouting’.
The White Lotus season 2 was filmed at San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Resort.
And because of HBO’s marketing deal with the Four Seasons hotel chain, this narrowed our possible filming locations down straight away. While a whopping 53 of the brand’s 133 hotels and resorts are located in North America, there are 20 Four Seasons properties scattered across Europe (including season 2’s San Domenico Palace, Taormina), stretching from London to Lisbon, Geneva to Istanbul – so plenty of potential filming location potential.
The most famous of them all is probably Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a prestigious address on the French Riviera, hidden among six hectares of gardens overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It’s the perfect destination for The White Lotus: glitz and glam thanks to its proximity to Cannes, paired with stunning natural scenery. Beady-eyed TV fans might also recognise this spot from its cameo in Emily in Paris.

With the scouting trip scheduled for summer 2025, as of September 2025 we finally have some clarity: The White Lotus season 4 will be set in France, sources tell Deadline, meaning Cap-Ferrat is a firm possibility. But there are two more Four Seasons hotels in France in which Le Lotus Blanc could be set: the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris; and the alpine Four Seasons Hotel Megève.
Creator Mike White has hinted he’s over the whole beachside setting. ‘For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular,’ he said. ‘But there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.’ Filming in Paris comes with its own difficulties, and we’d love to see a snow-capped ski season of The White Lotus filmed in Megève. Murder on the slopes? Yes please.
The Four Seasons Hotel Megève is a snowy enclave in the French Alps.
But this opens up a whole new can of worms. White’s season 4 theme is already locked in; Megève is the Four Seasons’ only European ski resort. Why, then, has it taken production so long to settle on France if this resort was their only realistic option?
Our attention is therefore moving back to Cap-Ferrat: a French Riviera hotel surrounded by manicured parkland, set back from the coast. It’s an illustrious setting worthy of our wealthy visitors, and it would be easy for White to stray from his ‘crashing waves of rocks vernacular’ just like he did in Thailand.

The White Lotus Season 4 Release Date
No official news just yet, but we expect filming for The White Lotus season 4 to get underway in 2026. If it’s ski season White is craving, filming should kick off at the start of the year. Otherwise it will be summer.
Between the first two seasons of The White Lotus, there was a gap of about a year and a half – and between the second and the third, a gap of almost two years and a half, though this was disrupted by strikes. Optimistically, The White Lotus season 4 will land in autumn 2026, but we think spring 2027 is more likely.
