Louis Vuitton kicks off an exciting new chapter with the unveiling of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, a new cosmetics branch helmed by Dame Pat McGrath
Get your makeup bags ready: Louis Vuitton is wading into the beauty market. The label, while better known for its artfully crafted trunks, monogrammed goods and leather accessories, is ready to tackle cosmetics in 2025. La Beauté Louis Vuitton is set to launch this August, with British makeup legend Dame Pat McGrath leading the luxury house’s new era.
Intrigued? Here’s everything you need to know about Louis Vuitton’s major foray into beauty.
What Is La Beauté Louis Vuitton?
Louis Vuitton is breaking into beauty – again. After a successful revival of its fragrance line in 2016 (its last having launched all the way back in 1946, and its very first in 1927), it seems the brand is ready to take another step into the world of beauty. And this time, it’s all about the makeup.
‘La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a natural business evolution, driven by our meticulous attention to quality, formula and innovation,’ commented Pietro Beccari, Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton. ‘Through this new universe, we have the opportunity to further accompany clients in their everyday lives with purpose and pleasure, while continuing to celebrate our creativity and heritage.’
And La Beauté Louis Vuitton already has a promising start thanks to its new Creative Director: Pat McGrath. Set to launch later this year, this new chapter for Louis Vuitton is already anticipated to be the biggest beauty release of 2025.

Is This Louis Vuitton’s First Foray Into Beauty?
While this is technically Louis Vuitton’s first major venture into cosmetics, fans of the label will tell you it has dabbled in other beauty ventures over the years – after all, the first LV handbags were designed for women to be able to carry daily cosmetic essentials.
The brand’s historical celebration of beauty rituals can be seen through its leather vanity cases, beauty bags, toiletry pouches, perfume cases and even its recent fragrance revival. Louis Vuitton even designed a lines of powder compacts, brushes and mirrors in the 1920s (pictured below).

But La Beauté Louis Vuitton will be the house’s first label – or ‘universe’, as Beccari called it – wholly dedicated to makeup. And with Pat McGrath taking the lead on creative direction, we can only expect the very best.
What To Expect From The First La Beauté Louis Vuitton Drop
The luxury house plans to go all-out for its first official La Beauté Louis Vuitton drop, rolling out a line of lipsticks, balms and eyeshadows – alongside cosmetic pouches, lipstick trunks, makeup bags, and mattifying papers and eye brush sets housed in leather cases. The brand notes that these are ‘objects of desire that echo the trunk-making, artistry, and cultural vision at the heart of Louis Vuitton, each with a McGrath twist.’

Who Is Pat McGrath?
For those deep in the beauty cycle, Pat McGrath needs no introduction. The makeup artist is considered one of the most influential in the world, and has played an intrinsic part in the British (and later, global) beauty scene for nearly four decades.
Over the years, McGrath has collaborated with numerous designers – including Louis Vuitton – often bringing viral makeup looks to the runway (a recent viral moment being the doll-like, glass skin worn by models for Maison Margiela), and in 2015 went on to launch her eponymous label.

And it’s not just luxury brands that sing her praises either – she also has the royal stamp of approval. McGrath has been a member of the Order of the British Empire since 2014, and is the first and only makeup artist ever to become a ‘Dame’ (having been awarded the title in 2021 from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II).
Now, the makeup artist is gearing up for a new chapter as Creative Director of Cosmetics at La Beauté Louis Vuitton. ‘Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftmanship, creativity and innovation,’ said McGrath in an official news release. ‘The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.’
