All the tournaments to have on your radar
It’s a pivotal year for women in sport – and the UK is at the centre of the action. We’ve already seen the Red Roses secure a seventh win in the Six Nations back in April, and there are a whole host of events set to take place this summer. From a brand-new women’s tennis event to the Women’s Rugby World Cup, which is being hosted by England for the first time in over a decade, here are the women’s sporting events to have on your radar in 2025.
Women In Sport: Key Dates For 2025
Cycling: Tour of Britain Women 2025
In early 2024, the future of cycling event the Women’s Tour was looking bleak after its owner went bust. But thankfully, British Cycling stepped in and the race was revived under a new name, the Tour of Britain Women. The race is underway for its second edition, seeing both British and international star riders embark on a four-day long trail around Yorkshire, England and Scotland. Last year’s winner Lotte Kopecky isn’t racing this year, but her runner-up Anna Henderson is competing, alongside British riding legend Lizzie Deignan and rising star Cat Ferguson.

Queen’s Tennis
Didn’t manage to secure Wimbledon tickets? Instead, be part of history at West London’s Queen’s Club, which is set to host its first women’s tournament in more than 50 years. It’s going ahead in the week before the Men’s ATP 500 (16 – 22 June) despite concerns about the quality of the grass for male players (with the LTA agreeing to review the impact after this year’s event). This is a chance to see some of the world’s top female tennis stars in action, including US Open winner Emma Raducanu, British number one Katie Boulter and Japanese tennis legend Naomi Osaka.

UEFA Women’s Euros
It’s been a bit of a turbulent few weeks for the Lionesses, with Mary Earps announcing a shock retirement, Fran Kirby retiring from international football, and Millie Bright withdrawing from the Euro squad, citing she was unable to ‘give 100 percent mentally or physically’. However, many favourites will be playing at the 2025 Euros, including Lauren James – who has been on a break since April due to a hamstring injury – and captain Leah Williamson. New faces to look out for include Michelle Agyemang, Aggie Beever-Jones and Grace Clinton, who will all be playing their first major tournament.
When? 2 – 27 July 2025
Where? Switzerland

Netball Super League Grand Final
Netball has long been a popular sport in the UK, but it’s really come into the limelight lately – in part a result of plans to professionalise the Netball Super League in 2023. The division has had a big overhaul, and for the first time, the Grand Final will take place at The O2 in London this July. A set of new rules have been put in place to create closer competition – and make for more thrilling viewing. Loughborough Lighting took home the trophy last year, beating Manchester Thunder, but will they do it again in 2025?

It’s being held in England, taking place across eight venues across the country including Bristol’s Ashton Gate and Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, culminating in the final at London’s Allianz Stadium. It’s looking hopeful for England’s Red Roses team, who sit at the top of the world rankings and are the current favourite to win.
