Classic New York elegance meets boho chic

And Just Like That… is finally back on our screens after a two-year wait, but the dating woes and flamboyant fashion statements aren’t the star of the show; instead, we’re obsessed with the interiors. We asked experts for all the show’s design secrets – and how to recreate Carrie Bradshaw’s gorgeous Gramercy Park apartment.

While Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic Sex and the City brownstone leaned into a colourful, vintage aesthetic, it seems she’s started a new era in And Just Like That… season 3. Leaving behind her handsome brownstone (and the luxe Fifth Avenue apartment that she fleetingly inhabited in the first spinoff film), the latest season has introduced us to a new slice of SATC real estate: a Mediterranean-style property in Gramercy Park.

According to property insiders, this particular apartment would cost around $4 million in the real world; but SATC, of course, has never really been concerned with how the real world works. So, the question isn’t how exactly Carrie got her hands on her new apartment, but how you might be able to recreate it – without the $4 million price tag. We’ve pulled together some tips.

Start With Eclectic Furniture

Despite her (many) different addresses over the course of SATC and the spinoffs, Carrie’s signature style doesn’t change – and it’s all about mismatched furniture.

Carrie Bradshaw’s interiors have always captured a certain aspirational chaos: a mix of vintage charm, bold fashion statements, and unmistakably personal touches,’ reflects Camilla Lesser, property development manager at Essential Living. ‘In And Just Like That… season 3, we’re seeing a more refined evolution of her aesthetic, balancing sophistication with character. It’s not about perfection, it’s about storytelling — and that’s the essence of New York style.’

It seems that Carrie has been a quiet pioneer of joy drenching: a style of interior design that places meaningful, carefully-chosen pieces centre stage. ‘From the vintage writing desk to the mismatched chairs and shelves that feel collected over years (not styled in a weekend), every piece in Carrie’s apartment tells a story,’ says Lisa Hensby of the eponymous Design & Build Studio.

Naturally, there’s more than a touch of the curated clutter trend, too – think books, trinkets and even clothes on full display. These all perfectly complement Carrie’s artful blend of antique furniture and sleek, contemporary pieces.

Opt For Elevated Neutrals

While we might have said goodbye to the soft green hues of Carrie’s Upper East Side apartment, neutrals still reign supreme in her new pad.

‘Carrie’s new apartment leans into a Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic, washed in bright neutrals,’ says Michael Rolland, managing director and paint expert at The Paint Shed. ‘There’s an emphasis on natural light, shuttered windows and panelled doors.’

That’s not to say that there aren’t pops of colour throughout Carrie’s space, however; warm neutral shades in fact provide a brilliant backdrop for some more vibrant pieces. ‘Carrie’s new look dials up the elegance without losing her edge,’ notes Lisa. ‘To recreate this, keep walls and sofas soothing – think soft greys, dusty rose, deep navy – but let one bold piece sing: a jewel-toned armchair, a sculptural light, an abstract artwork. It’s all about restraint with a twist.’

Emma Bestley, co-founder and creative director of YesColours, suggests channeling Carrie’s colour palette using the tonal drenching method. ‘Continuing your wall colour through to the woodwork in a bedroom is always a good idea as it envelops the room, creating a sense of cohesion by reducing the visual noise,’ she explains. ‘While you can use the same colour on the ceiling for a full-on colour drenching look, a creative twist is to try tonal drenching: sticking with the same family of colours. You can still achieve that same cocooning effect, but with added softness and a touch more movement.’

Incorporate Sleek Storage

With space at a premium in the Big Apple, every apartment will prioritise storage (though it’s perhaps particularly important to Carrie, thanks to her impressive collection of clothes and accessories).

‘These interiors look beautiful, but they also work,’ says Joy Aumann, interior designer and founder of luxurysocalrealty.com. ‘Storage is hidden, furniture has more than one purpose, and there’s always some smart detail that makes the room feel effortless to live in.’

The key? Maximising vertical wall space. ‘New York apartments often use their height well, so you’ll notice tall bookshelves, statement lamps and large pieces of art that draw the eye upward,’ explains Gareth Davies, design director at Classic Interiors

Of course, larger pieces can still make an impact – you’ll just need to be clever when it comes to the setup. ‘Scale matters; even in a small apartment, you might see something oversized, like a big mirror or a bold artwork,’ Joy adds. ‘It sounds counterintuitive, but it actually gives the space more presence. New Yorkers aren’t afraid to make strong visual statements, even when the square footage is tight.’

Channel New York Chic

Elegant colours and smart storage might be important, but how do you really nail the New York look? Well, it’s all about layering – and it starts with the natural textures and architectural features within your space.

‘In true NYC style, Carrie’s place doesn’t fight the architecture; it flows with it,’ reflects Lisa. ‘Think original floorboards, characterful radiators, statement windows, and if you’re lucky, exposed brick. If your home is full of period charm, lean into it: strip the floors, uncover that old fireplace, let the sash windows breathe.’

‘Paired with contemporary furniture or soft, neutral paint tones, these period elements can create a beautiful contrast – think classic meets New York modern,’ adds Michael.

Don’t Forget The Luxury Flourishes

After the furniture has been lovingly curated, the walls painted in tasteful neutrals, and the bold artwork hung, there’s just one thing that every Carrie Bradshaw-inspired apartment needs: a touch of luxury. From handbags showed off on shelves to shoes artfully perched on ottomans (or strewn across wooden floors), we’re never far away from SATC’s high-fashion world.

Yet in And Just Like That…, it isn’t just luxury fashion that gets a shoutout; you’ll spot plenty of enviable home brands, too. Take the pastel-hued Smeg fridge in Carrie’s kitchen, for example – or the lavish Hästens bed which we see being delivered to Seema, Carrie’s real estate agent. It wouldn’t be SATC without a bit of glamour, after all.
