The BBC's beloved comedy is back

The BBC’s beloved and critically acclaimed comedy is set to return tonight; here’s everything you need to know before you tune in to We Might Regret This series 2.

We Might Regret This Series 2: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More

Last summer, the BBC revealed filming was underway in London on the second series of Lee Getty and Kyla Harris’ award-winning comedy, We Might Regret This. Centring on Freya (Harris), a 30-something tetraplegic Canadian artist who moves to London to pursue a relationship with lawyer and silver fox Abe (Darren Boyd), creator and star Harris said she was ‘beyond excited to be back on set’, adding ‘more laughs, hard truths and nipples’ we en route.

In series 1, we saw Freya, struggling to find an appropriate personal assistant, invite her chaotic and impulsive best friend Jo (Elena Saurel) from Canada to take the role, creating an awkward blended family.

But the series is also full of love and laughter – and series 1 ended with Freya and Abe’s engagement.

We Might Regret This series 1 rose to critical acclaim, with creators Harris and Getty recognised as part of BAFTA’s Breakthrough cohort in 2024, and nominated in the Emerging Talent category at the 2025 BAFTA TV Craft Awards.

What Will Happen In Series 2?

We Might Regret This series 2 is backdropped by the high-stress world of wedding prep, complicated by the happy couple realising they aren’t exactly aligned on all fronts – from views on marriage to their visions for the big day.

To make matters even more complicated, Freya’s agents, The Olivias (Emma Sidi and Hanako Footman) enlist Freya and Abe in an intense wedding-themed content creation campaign focussed on disability inclusion. All the while, Abe is navigating his complicated history with Jo, as well as his own trust issues. But as Freya and Jo’s connection rekindles, it quickly becomes clear Abe needs to come to terms with the past, and at least find a way to accept (if not fully embrace) the person who plays such a vital role in Freya’s life and wellbeing.

Will There Be We Might Regret This Series 3?

After the success of series 1, the BBC gifted us a double whammy renewal: We Might Regret This will return for a second and third series. On the news, creators Lee and Kyla called the first series ‘just the tip of the comedy iceberg’, adding the duo is ‘beyond grateful to the BBC for their continued support and commitment to exploring disability, messy relationships and unparalleled intimacy on screen’.
