Tom Daley’s New Knit Kit Has Arrived – Here’s How To Get Yours

The former Olympic diver is helping the nation get its knit on
While Tom Daley is best known for his expert diving skills (and numerous Olympic medals), the sportsman has spent the last few years honing a new craft: knitting. First spotted knitting up a storm from the stands of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the diver quickly sparked a renewed interest in the activity – dubbed the ‘Tom Daley effect’ – and soon after set up a dedicated knitting account on Instagram. By 2021, Daley had his own knitwear line, Made With Love, as well as over a million followers tuning into his projects online. But the story doesn’t end there. Tom Daley has released a brand new knit kit, designed for knitters of all levels, to help us all get knitting at home.
Tom Daley Launches DIY Knit Kit
Known for making a splash both in and out of the swimming pool, Tom Daley has some fun projects up his sleeve this year: a stint on the first season of Celebrity Traitors UK, a candid documentary for discovery+ and, dropping today, a fresh (and colourful) knit kit.
The knit kit promises to get even the newest of knitters reaching for their needles, having been created in collaboration with Woolmark alongside UK-based yarns manufacturer Laxtons – which Daley and the Made With Love team have been working with to test and trial merino wool yarns. The result? A pastel-inspired, Woolmark-certified knit kit comprised of three new knitting patterns.
‘The knit kit brings some of my favourite pieces to life using 100 percent Merino wool. The wool fibre’s natural properties make it perfect for comfort, breathability and warmth,’ said Daley. ‘It’s a natural, renewable fibre I’ve always trusted and loved, and I can’t wait to see how it inspires others on their knitting journey.’
How It Works
As mentioned, the knit kit is comprised of three exclusive knitting patterns (sold individually) for a jumper, vest and hat. There are seven colours to choose from – Lilac Snow, Lemon Zest, Delicate Blue, Lime Cream, Pale Peach, Candy Pink and Natural Cream – and these can all be combined in various combinations (including a rainbow jumper design).
The kit includes a PDF pattern (XS–XXL sizing) with detailed, medium level instructions, as well as seven to 12 balls of yarn depending on the size and colour. (Note that knitting needles aren’t included.) From there, you’ll be able to start on your next knitting project.
