LERÉI: First Look At London’s New Women’s Members Club

An exclusive peek inside the capital's latest wellness hub
While hedonistic, party-heavy members’ clubs certainly still exist across the capital, exclusive spaces are increasingly being geared towards wellbeing. Nowadays members are just as interested – if not more – in luxe gym facilities and next-gen biohacking treatments as they are in late-night bars and decadent cocktail menus. Historic venues like The Sloane Club are responding to demand by adding fancy new spas and fitness studios, while others are totally revamping: glamorous celebrity hotspot Tramp recently reopened as Tramp Health. But we’re also seeing a spate of new openings where wellness is the primary focus.
The latest is LERÉI, opening this summer in the heart of Knightsbridge. Founded by Tanya Chaudhary, it’s designed exclusively for women as a ‘response to an absence rather than a trend’ and focuses on themes of longevity, beauty and performance. Ahead of the launch, C&TH had a first look.
Inside New Wellness Club LERÉI
LERÉI sits bang in the middle of Knightsbridge on Brompton Road, but inside feels worlds away from the chaos of central London. It’s housed within the same building as the flagship store for Italian interiors company Visionnaire, who was enlisted to design the venue. The aim was to create a space which felt more like a private residence than a traditional club, using materials, light and spatial flow to create a zen, elegant atmosphere with a feminine energy.
The idea to launch a wellness club came from a personal place, Chaudhary tells us. ‘I found myself searching for a space where I could move, restore and take care of myself without feeling observed, rushed or overwhelmed. While London has many exceptional wellness offerings, I felt there was a gap for something designed entirely around the needs and rhythms of women.’ LERÉI isn’t about exclusion, she stresses, but ‘creating an environment where women can feel completely at ease.’
Members will arrive at the private entrance and hop in the lift or climb the sculptural staircase to reach the welcome area, a peaceful space which sets the tone for the club.
There’s a focus on low-impact exercise and holistic health, with both a mat studio offering hot pilates, aerial yoga and sound baths, and a Lagree reformer studio with an atmospheric light ceiling (one of just a few in London). Special touches will add a high-end feeling – for instance, after every class members will be offered a hot or cold towel to cool down or warm up accordingly.
Elsewhere, members can book red light therapy with Bon Charge products, Japanese head spa rituals, and sessions with on-site life coaches and nutritionists. They’ll likely want to spend a lot of time in the beautifully designed changing rooms too, which feature a salt sauna, an ice plunge for your face, and seated showers which double up as steam rooms – complete with red, green and blue light (all offer different benefits). Forgot your perfume? No problem: have a spritz from the perfume bar created by Maison Francis Kurkdjian (the fragrance brand behind the wildly popular Baccarat Rouge), which is scenting the entire club.
Upstairs there will be a cafe/ lounge area which welcomes both men and women, where wellness-focused events will be held.
So is LERÉI for? Ultra-high-net-worth women are the target customer, Chaudhary tells us – specifically those who value wellbeing as a crucial part of their life rather than as a trend. ‘Many are founders, executives, creatives, entrepreneurs, mothers or frequent travellers who lead busy lives and are looking for a space that offers both consistency and sanctuary.’
She’s keen to ensure the space feels intimate too, so membership is capped at 150 members and everyone will be known to staff, with their preferences carefully recorded. There will be different membership tiers – with the top one offering luxurious perks such as access to a chauffeur who will pick you up from home and deliver you to the club. No excuse not to exercise, then… but with a space as luxe as this, we doubt members will need an incentive.
