Move over, ABBA

What is behind our recent resurged fascination with Elvis Presley? From Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 epic biopic Elvis – starring Austin Butler’s award-winning rendition of the rock star – to Sofia Coppola and Cailee Spaeny’s take on Priscilla, it may be 2024, but we just can’t get enough of America’s most significant cultural figure of the 20th century. Next up: a hologram concert experience in the same vein as ABBA Voyage in Stratford. Here’s everything we know so far about Elvis Evolution.

AI Elvis? It’s a phrase fit for 2024. And, come November 2024, the AI King of rock ‘n’ roll will debut on a bespoke London stage. The experience is called Elvis Evolution, and it will feature a full-sized holographic projection of the world-famous star, made possible using AI and thousands of personal photos and pieces of home-video footage.

After the main event, guests will also be invited to the ‘After Party’, featuring an Elvis themed restaurant and bar with live music and DJs.

It’s all thanks to UK immersive specialists Layered Reality, which has teamed up with Authentic Brands Group – the owners of the Elvis Presley estate since 2013 – to craft AI Elvis.

Layered Reality have previously presented The Gunpowder Plot and Jeff Wayne’s The War Of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience to London audiences. The company says the experience will present a ‘jaw-dropping concert experience’, with hologram Elvis performing ‘iconic moments in musical history on a UK stage for the first time’.

Co-founder Andrew McGuinness adds: ‘Elvis Evolution is a next-generation tribute to the musical legend that is Elvis Presley. Elvis maintains superstar status globally and people around the world no longer want to sit there and passively receive entertainment – they want to be a part of it.

‘It’ll be a memory-making experience that will be a bucket-list item for Elvis fans and admirers around the world,’ McGuinness says. ‘People can step into the world of Elvis, walk in his shoes and celebrate his extraordinary musical legacy.’
