Five ideas for all the gals and pals out there
Valentine’s Day is coming thick and fast, which means one thing for the single girls in the room: Galentine’s Day is almost here, too. Here are five ways to share the love with your gals and pals in 2026.
What Is Galentine’s Day?
Galentine’s Day is an annual celebration of female friendship, celebrated to rebut Valentine’s Day and all of its saccharine romance. Originally dreamed up by the writers of sitcom Parks and Recreation in February 2010, the day has evolved into a global celebration of friendship, singledom and love in all of its forms. It is traditionally observed on 13 February, but many choose to celebrate Galentine’s on Valentine’s Day itself as a more direct rebuttal.
Typical Galentine’s Day celebrations include cocktail making, collage crafting, movie nights and sleepovers – but here we’ve gathered five fun ways to celebrate in London if you fancy getting out of the house.
Galentine’s Day In London 2026
Dinner
OUT: Even if you’re single on Valentine’s Day, fancy dinners shouldn’t be reserved for couples. Skip the candles and tables for two: this Valentine’s Day, it’s all about wining and dining with friends, amigos and pals. Head to one of the best restaurants in London for group dining to celebrate, or why not rub your friendship in everyone’s faces at one of these romantic restaurants?
IN: Or host a dinner party at home: the cosier option and, with no last orders, you can natter and play games with glasses of wine late into the night. Take the stress out of it all with a pre-prepped meal kit.

Movie Night
OUT: Last year it was Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, this year it’s Wuthering Heights… The movie executives are clocking onto the power of releasing a film on Valentine’s Day – or should we say Galentine’s, as both are released on 13 February? Catch Emerald Fennell’s new gothic romance in one of these lovely independent cinemas. Or the new art’otel London Hoxton is offering a special dinner-and-movie package on 13 and 14 February: watch 10 Things I Hate About You, Dirty Dancing, When Harry Met Sally or The Notebook before or after tucking into a two-course dinner at The Brush, including a special Valentine’s Day cocktail. Find out more here.
IN: Popcorn, blankets and a good rom-com: there’s nothing better. Gather the girls and watch one of these classics.
Yoga
OUT: Fitness goals don’t have to be achieved solo, and yoga is a great way to bond over the power of movement. Whether it’s gentle Yin or an energising Vinyasa, here are our favourite places to feel zen in London.
IN: The beauty of yoga is that you can do it anywhere – including at home. Invite all of the girls round, push the furniture to the walls and put a yoga video on the TV screen; the classic is Yoga with Adriene.
Pamper Session
OUT: London is home to a plethora of day spas, perfect for a one-to-one catch up with your closest friend or for gathering a group of wellness lovers for an afternoon of indulgence. Who said couple’s massages are just for romantic couples?
IN: At home spa time: light some candles, gather all of your towels, stock up on the face masks (or make your own matcha concoction) and invite your girlfriends for a pamper session under your own roof. Here’s our guide to creating an effective DIY Spa experience at home.
Sleepover
OUT: Sleepovers aren’t just for children. If this Valentine’s Day is a sore one for you or a friend, take a look at Virgin Hotels London Shoreditch’s special ‘On and Up’ Valentine’s Day package, perfect for going it solo or sharing with a beloved friend. Guests are treated to a one-night suite stay, a cathartic Lily Vanilli smash cake, a Rebel Rebel Flowers ‘I Can Buy Myself Flowers’ voucher, themed cocktails and small plates at Hidden Grooves, and more. Available throughout February, find out more and book here.
IN: Or combine all of the above into one epic Galentine’s sleepover with your closest friends. The cherry on top? Matching pyjamas, of course. We love this Mini Heart set from B-Corp Stripe & Stare.
