House of the Dragon Season 2 Release Date

It’s official: House of the Dragon season 2 will kick off on Monday 17 June 2024 in the UK. Airing weekly on Sunday nights in the US (beginning on Sunday 16 June), UK fans will be able to tune into the eight-part series on NOW from 2am on Mondays – which is the same time it airs across the Atlantic.

We assume episodes will then air on Sky Atlantic on Monday evening at a more sociable hour, but this is TBC.

What Will Season 2 Be About?

Season 2 picks up where the first instalment of the series left off, with tensions high following the death of Rhaenyra’s son, Prince Lucerys ‘Luke’ Velaryon (Elliot Grihault), at the hands of Alicent’s son Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). The event of Luke’s death, as well as the miscarriage she experiences in the same episode, incites bloodlust in his mother, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) – igniting talk of war in Westeros.

House of the Dragon is set within the same universe as Game of Thrones. Based on George R.R. Martin’s novel series Fire & Blood, the series is set around 200 years before the events of GoT and tells the story of House Targaryen and its fall from grace.
