Mayfield’s Secret Lavender Garden is hidden near Epsom
From strawberry picking to staycations, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the great British countryside come summertime. If you’re partial to the heady scent of lavender and the beautiful site of purple swathes spreading as far as the eye can see, check out one of these lovely lavender farms this summer. But trust us when we say they’re incredibly popular. If you’re looking for something a little more tranquil, here’s a sneaky tip: pay a trip to Mayfield’s Secret Lavender Garden. Here’s how.
What Is The Secret Lavender Garden?
Mayfield Lavender is known for its iconic lilac fields in Banstead, Surrey – but the Secret Lavender Farm is something different. Hidden on a different site near Epsom, this is a limited-entry lavender field offering a more intimate and peaceful way to enjoy the fragrant flowers. Add orchard views, more than 500 fruit trees and wildlife spotting (including local grazing horses) into the mix, and you’ve got a real hidden gem.
It’s a new-for-2025 offering from Mayfield Lavender, but don’t worry, the iconic Banstead fields will still be open, with the Secret Lavender Garden a quieter, more exclusive alternative. Mayfield founder Brendan Maye describes it as ‘a peaceful, hidden gem’ and ‘a completely different kind of experience’ to his original fields, marking ‘an exciting chapter for Mayfield’.
On site, guests will find Mayfield’s popular Glasshouse Café and Gift & Plant Shop, but you’re also welcome to bring your own blanket and picnic, or pre-order one crafted by Mayfield. From July, Mayfield Lavender will be hosting special events to highlight the beauty of the Secret Lavender Farm, including mesmerising golden hour sessions.
Mayfield’s Banstead site is the only lavender farm in the UK to be certified organic by the Soil Association, as result of the team’s commitment to chemical-free farming and creating healthy environments for pollinators, particularly bees. Find out more here.
