Stroll the London streets in search of these striking displays

What better thing to gaze at than creative shop fronts and festive façades amid hours of last-minute shopping? From Fortnum & Mason’s classic calendar façade to Cartier’s big red bow, there are some very pretty festive sights to see this year. Here’s our pick of the best.

Annabel's Christmas window display 2023

London’s premiere private members’ club, Annabel’s, has revealed its highly anticipated festive façade for 2023. Displayed in collaboration with The Caring Family Foundation’s Food from the Heart campaign, the display is a huge classic hot air balloon with red and white stripes and a green top that looks ready for lift off, rooted to the ground with glittering lights and intricate detailing. Designed by the Birley Club’s Creative Director, Tatiana Kharchylava, it was inspired by the idea that anything is possible when we come together – that we can rise above difficult times and challenges.

Fortnum & Mason Christmas Windows 2023

Fortnum & Mason

Is it really Christmas if you haven’t popped down to Piccadilly to see Fortnum & Mason’s incredible window displays? Once again, an advent calendar has taken over their entire façade (it’s almost as decadent as the department store’s real Christmas calendar), with festive scenes to admire in each of the street level windows, too.

Cartier Christmas windows 2023

This is the gift that keeps on giving. The giant bow is back on Cartier’s door – so it must be nearly Christmas. Not only is this an iconic sight when it appears on London’s Bond Street every year, but it is a Cartier hallmark across the Atlantic, with the fine jewellers’ Fifth Avenue store in NYC also wrapped up in a giant red bow for Christmas.

Bertinet Bakery Christmas toast house

Pepper Tree London Vintage

Home to an array of coveted vintage apparel, Pepper Tree London Vintage in Notting Hill has partnered with Bertinet Bakery this festive season to display the UK’s first sourdough ‘Toast house’. Playing on the traditional Gingerbread house, it was handcrafted using 500 slices of toasted sourdough, surrounded by a dusting of flour and decorated with peanut butter, icing and other treats captioned ‘Handcrafted Sourdough Ho Ho’ and ‘Have a real toasty Christmas’. It’s the kind of Christmas pun we’ve come to love about the festive season.
