One for South Londoners, Battersea hotspot The Farmer’s Mistress has options for all brunch needs. A tad hungover? Opt for the Naughty Mistress, which comes with smoked bacon, roasted Portobello mushroom, slow roasted tomatoes, sausages and sourdough. Got a sweet-tooth? The Nutty Apple Cinnamon Toast is for you. The smoothies are worth exploring too – we’ve got our eyes on the Temptress, mixed with banana, cacao, dates and almond milk.

If you’re after a healthy brunch option, check out The Acai Girls, a delivery-only food brand launched in lockdown by sisters Megan and Georgia Salamat. As the name suggests, acai bowls are at the forefront – topped with fruit, granola, nut butter and more – but there’s also cacao and hazelnut pancakes if you fancy something more filling.

Eggslut began as a food truck in LA, known then as Old Bessie. The brainchild of chef Alvin Cailan, the truck had locals queueing for hours to get a bite – and a snap – of the action, which came in the form of Instagrammable egg dishes. Alvin went on to open numerous other sites around the US, before launching a site this side of the pond earlier this year.
Famous dishes include the Slut: coddled egg on top of a potato puree, poached in a glass jar and served with baguette; and the Fairfax: scrambled eggs with cheddar, chives and caramelized onions in a warm brioche bun – both of which can be ordered for delivery. Shocked by the name? According to Bruno Pires, Executive Chef at eggslut: ‘it’s a chef’s term, it just essentially refers to somebody who always just says “add an egg to it” when they’re cooking.’

Cult bakery Popham’s – with branches in Hackney and Islington – has become famous for its laminated pastries, with the maple-bacon croissant coming out tops. And, much to the delight of its fans, the bakery is now offering delivery. Pastries are the clear winner here, but there are also coconut yoghurt pots, bags of granola and loaves of sourdough up for grabs, plus ground coffee and juices.
Fancy a taste of the suite life? If you’ve got an SW1X postcode, The Berkeley will whizz breakfast in bed over by bike – think fresh pastries, smoked salmon bagels, pressed juices and granola, bundled in with a daily newspaper and packaged in brown paper with personalised tags. If you like a lot of bread with your eggs in the morning, try one of the unique creations from Barge House in Hackney. The restaurant’s signature brunch sees loaves of bread filled with classic breakfast combinations, from smoked salmon and eggs to a chorizo, egg, mushroom and spinach creation. Not a fan of eggs? There’s a new vegan option, filled with cannellini beans and topped with plant-based mozzarella.
