Here are this year's finalists
We all love our local, but which pub will be deemed the UK’s best for 2024? Each year, CAMRA crowns one boozer number one – and the latest shortlist has now been revealed.
CAMRA’s Pub of the Year: 2024 Shortlist
The judges have whittled down a list of 17 regional and national finalists to just four. These are:
Little Green Dragon, Winchmore Hill, London
CAMRA voted this London micropub London’s best, and now it’s in with a chance of taking home the top gong. Billing itself as Enfield’s first micropub – a term used to describe a very small pub – this neighbourhood favorite has a quirky feel, with a focus on community. Instead of TVs and slot machines, you’ll find board games and table skittles, plus live music on Wednesdays. Drinks-wise, there’s a selection of high-quality real ales, alongside ciders, gins, wine and prosecco.

Black Horse, Preston, Lancashire
This Preston pub is no stranger to awards, having scooped up titles such as Central Lancashire Branch Pub of the Year at the regionals. Housed inside a Grade II listed building in the town centre, it’s renowned for its friendly, characterful feel. There are four Robinson’s beers on offer, alongside a rotating selection of four guest beers, plus pork pies from Jones of Huddersfield.

Three B’s, Bridlington , East Riding of Yorkshire
Also a micropub, the Three B’s is a relatively new addition to the pub scene, having opened in April 2020 by husband-and-wife duo Mark and Cheryl. In line with typical micropub principles, you won’t find any mass-produced keg products or live sport, but you will find banter, beer and bar snacks (hence the name) – with the second ‘B’ manifesting as real ales from Yorkshire microbreweries.

Bailey Head, Oswestry, Shropshire
This Shropshire pub has been around for over 200 years, but it has existed in its current guise since 2016, when it was bought by husband-and-wife team Duncan Borrowman and Grace Goodlad. It serves an extensive, regularly changing range of real ales and craft beers, alongside over 100 gins – and although food isn’t served there, visitors are welcome to bring their own snacks or even order a takeaway.

When Will The Winner Be Announced?
Speaking about the finalists, National Pub of the Year coordinator Andrea Briers said: ‘These fantastic four are the epitome of what a good pub should be; welcoming to all, friendly hardworking staff and serve well maintained cask beer for a wonderful pub going experience. I am excited to find out which one will be crowned the best pub in the UK.’
Founded in 1971, CAMRA is a not-for-profit organisation focused around promoting real ale and community pubs. The 2024 winner will be announced in January 2025, taking the crown from last year’s winner, The Tamworth Tap. camra.org.uk
