Cult New York Restaurant Llama Inn Is Coming To London

The Peruvian hotspot is making its way across the pond
After opening its doors in Brooklyn in 2015, Peruvian restaurant Llama Inn quickly rose to critical acclaim – and no doubt it’ll cause a similar buzz upon arriving in London. The eatery will open on the rooftop of The Hoxton in Shoreditch this September, channeling the spirit of the Williamsburg original with modern South American small plates and vibrant cocktails.
New York’s Llama Inn Is Opening A London Branch
Llama Inn is the brainchild of restaurateur Juan Correa and Eleven Madison Park alumni chef Erik Ramirez. Dishes are inspired by Peru, but with an added New York edge – shaped by Erik, who was born in the city to Peruvian parents.
Heading up the kitchen in London will be Marcin Maliczowski, whose CV includes Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio’s Barcelona restaurant Yakumanaka. The opening menu includes an array of snacks, ceviche, small plates and larger sharing dishes – think scallops with yuzu kosho and nori; quinoa with bacon, avocado and cashew; and a pavlova dessert served with lemon verbena and muna ice cream.
The Brooklyn restaurant is also famed for its cocktails, with the bar helmed by drinks aficionado Natasha Bermudez. Llama Inn London will offer many of Natasha’s signature tipples, such as the ‘Chupetini (one shot martini)’, a blend of Japanese gin, dry vermouth, umami bomb and blue cheese olives. Alongside this, there will be a wine list featuring bottles from small, independent growers across the world, with a focus on low-intervention and biodynamic producers.
Housed in a light-filled dining room, with its own entrance on Willow Street, the restaurant’s interiors will also echo the original, featuring bright colours, plenty of foliage, sofas and seating booths. There will also be an outdoor terrace, offering panoramic views of the city skyline.
The Hoxton Shoreditch is a suitably chic setting for the opening. Opened in 2006, it was the first launch in the group, followed by branches everywhere from Amsterdam to Chicago and Rome.
