Inside the capital's starriest foodie hangouts

We know, we know, the quality of the food should be the primary reason for choosing a restaurant. But it’s only natural to be curious about who one might be sitting next to – particularly in a city like London, where some of the world’s top A-listers live. So where are the in-crowd dining in 2025? We’ve done some digging to uncover the best restaurants for celebrity spotting right now, from Islington’s hottest wine and ice cream bar to glitzy Mayfair newbies – plus a long-standing riverside haunt that will never lose its star factor.

Best Restaurants For Celebrity Spotting In London In 2025

Dorian, Notting Hill

Notting Hill is having a moment when it comes to in-demand restaurants, with one spot causing a particular stir amid celebrity circles: British bistro Dorian. Located just down the road from neighbourhood stalwart The Ledbury, the eatery may be low-key but its guestlist is quite the opposite. The Beckhams, who own a mansion in Holland Park just down the road, are regulars – and Victoria loves it so much she recently named a handbag after the restaurant. Meanwhile, Miquita Oliver threw her 40th birthday party there, attended by the likes of Nick Grimshaw and Lily Allen. Despite its recent Michelin star, there’s nothing stuffy about Dorian, which is loved for its energetic atmosphere and excellent menu cooked up by ex-Ikoyi chef Max Coen. Stop by to try the signature potato rosti… if you manage to nab a table.

The Dreamery, an ice cream shop in London

The Dreamery, Islington

Goodbye Horses, a natural wine and small plates bar in the heart of De Beauvoir town, was always going to be a hit with North London’s foodies. But those after a bit of celebrity dazzle should head across the road to The Dreamery, an ice cream parlour and bar created by the same team. Its whimsical charm (think mirrored walls, Parisian-inspired Art Deco nods and a kaleidoscopic statement ceiling) and seasonal menu has captured the attention of some of the biggest pop singers of today: Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX have all visited for a scoop (served here in a silver coupe, naturally) and a glass of pét-nat. Ice cream, but make it brat?

River Cafe

Richard Bryant

The River Cafe, Hammersmith

Sometimes, you just can’t beat a classic – and turns out many celebrities agree when it comes to dining out in London. Ruth Rogers’ perennially loved River Cafe has long been one of the capital’s most star-studded restaurants, and it remains as current now as it did when it first opened in 1987. Beloved for its fresh pasta and legendary chocolate nemesis dessert, the venue’s clientele reads like a guestlist for the Oscars: Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt, Ralph Fiennes and Harrison Ford are all fans. It’s popular among fashion types too, like Gigi Hadid and Adwoa Aboah, and in 2022 it served as a date night venue for Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian.

Casa Cruz, Holland Park

Another west London spot celebrities can’t get enough of is Casa Cruz, sister restaurant to glitzy Isabel in Mayfair, run by Argentinian designer and restaurateur Juan Santa Cruz. Since opening back in 2015, a string of famous faces have been spotted there, from Kate Moss to royal siblings Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. But the eatery really secured its A-list credits after last year’s visit from Taylor Swift. The singer enjoyed dinner there while in the UK for the Eras tour, bringing with her a star-studded squad of pals that included Cara Delevingne, Stella McCartney, Andrew Scott, Phoebe Waller Bridge and Haim sisters Este and Danielle. Unsurprisingly, Casa Cruz is known for its exclusive feel and pricey menu of suitably fashionable South American dishes, like tuna crudo and steak tartare.

Jolene, Stoke Newington

Upon its opening in 2018, there was a lot of buzz surrounding Jolene: a bakery and restaurant from the team behind East London favourites Primeur and Westerns Laundry, alongside musician-turned-farmer Andy Cato. And since then, the unassuming spot has garnered a string of celebrity customers. Keira Knightley and her husband, the Klaxons’ James Righton are known to pop in for a pastry, north London local Harry Styles is a regular, and earlier this year TikTok went into overdrive after Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams were spotted having dinner there.

Arlington, St James’s

Back in its ’90s heyday, Le Caprice was frequented by the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Mick Jagger – and Princess Diana was a regular, always reportedly sitting at table nine. The Mayfair haunt closed its doors in 2020, but last year Jeremy King reopened the restaurant as Arlington, successfully reviving its A-list feel. The eatery prides itself on being discreet, but eagle-eyed diners have noticed many famous faces enjoying its signature bang bang chicken, including designer Anya Hindmarch, Princess Beatrice and The Traitors’ host Claudia Winkleman.

The Devonshire dining room

The Devonshire, Soho

This one needs no introduction: The Devonshire is London’s most talked about gastropub, securing a flurry of awards since landing in Soho in 2023. It’s notoriously hard to get a table there – yet of course many famous actors and musicians have managed. The list of celebrity fans is endless, but to name a few, Margot Robbie, Lewis Capaldi, Ed Sheeran, Joe Jonas and Bono have all dined there. Many celebrity chefs have given it the seal of approval too, including Nigella Lawson. Food is served in the grill restaurant upstairs, with a standout set menu offering a three-course menu for just £29, including dishes like prawn and langoustine cocktail and skirt steak. But if you can’t nab a spot, join the hordes of Londoners enjoying a Thursday evening pint of Guinness on the street outside – who knows who you could be rubbing shoulders with?
