What Does A £6,000 Christmas Hamper Look Like?

There’s something magical about receiving a wicker hamper neatly filled with festive treats. Piled high with biscuits, mince pies, tea and cheese, they make the perfect gift for the foodie in your life (or special treat for the family). But this hamper from Fortnum & Mason takes the concept to new heights, retailing at a whopping £6,000.

A Look Inside Fortnum & Mason’s £6k Hamper

The Imperial from Fortnum & Mason is made up of not one, but five Christmas hampers. Inside you’ll find 70 items spanning food, drink, teaware, accessories and decorations.

As expected from a hamper of this price, there are plenty of luxurious products in there – from caviar to truffle oil and English sparkling wine. You’ll also find an abundance of festive snacks, including the Christmas Merrilossus Biscuits, a twist on the brand’s beloved Toffolossus, plus cheese straws, nuts and olives.

There’s an abundance of chocolates too, including the giant Ultimate Christmas Chocolate Selection box, which features a wide assortment of milk, dark and white truffles. Condiments-wise, the lucky recipient of this hamper will be covered for months: there’s caramelised onion marmalade, cognac butter, mayonnaise, jam and more.

Fortnum & Mason is famous for its tea, so of course there’s plenty of that too. The Imperial contains the Fortnum’s Famous & Classic World Wooden Restaurant Box, which is filled with 60 teabags – from the Classic blend to Earl Grey and Darjeeling (plus a strainer and a little timer to ensure you get the perfect brew). If you’re after something a bit stronger, there’s white and red wine, plus a magnum of Hennessy XO Cognac, and a bottle of Nyetimber Prestige Cuvee Vintage Sparkling.

The Imperial will also have all the family sorted for Christmas day feasting. It features a whole ham, a rib of Glenarm salt aged beef and a cranberry topped pork pie, plus a selection of cheeses: Waxed Cheddar Truckle, Traditional Stilton and Baron Bigod. And for dessert, there’s a standout Christmas pudding.

Aside from the food, the hamper includes some exquisite tableware including a silver-plated cake server, silver-plated forks, a tea strainer and Christmas crackers. An eye mask and pouch from Elizabeth Scarlett is also thrown in, alongside some Fortum’s Garden hand lotion and soap, and a pretty candle.

So is it worth it? Well, if you’ve got £6k to spare, it’s certainly an impressive spread – and the hamper is worth more than its retail price, if you added up the price of all the items inside. But it’s still £6k, so… one can dream.
