10 Beautiful Christmas Wreaths You’ll Never Want To Take Down

The perfect way to spruce up your front door? A festive wreath, of course
Nothing says ‘Christmas’ quite like a festive wreath. Whether hung on your front door or above your fireplace, this seasonal classic has become synonymous with the nation’s favourite holiday – and for good reason. Decorated with sprigs of holly and clusters of mistletoe – as well as fairy lights, ribbons and baubles – a wreath is the perfect way to set the Christmas tone.
And even before it became a December staple, the humble wreath was steeped in celebration. ‘Today, hanging a wreath is both a decoration and a gesture of welcome, we feel it symbolises hospitality, joy, and peace during the festive period,’ emphasises Nikki Tibbles, florist and founder of Wild at Heart. ‘And in ancient times, the circular shape held significant value; with no beginning or end, it was used to represent eternity. The evergreens symbolised life and renewal – and in Roman times people hung them on their doors to celebrate civic achievements.’
While today’s focus is less about achievements and more about general merriment, the sentiment still remains: a wreath is a special addition to any home. ‘A beautiful wreath can transform your front door and set the tone for your home’s décor, especially during the festive season,’ agrees Nikki.
We’ve rounded up some of our favourite Christmas wreaths for 2025 below, plus our experts’ top tips for picking the perfect one for you.
The Most Beautiful Christmas Wreaths For 2025
The Practical Bit: What To Do Before You Buy
Double (And Triple) Check The Size
Some prep is needed before you dive headfirst into wreath shopping – namely, measuring up the space to make sure it will fit (especially if it’s going on your front door). ‘Your wreath needs to be proportional to the door,’ notes Nikki. ‘Ideally, for a standard 36-inch wide door, we would recommend a wreath measuring at least 24 inches in diameter.
‘The wreath must be hung central in the middle of the door, at eye level when people approach your door,’ she adds. ‘If the wreath is too small in ratio with the door it can look a little lost. Have a measuring tape to hand to check the alignment – and make sure it’s centred vertically and horizontally.’
Don’t Get Attached (Yet)
You’ll also need to think about how your wreath will be attached to your door. ‘Can you hammer in a discrete nail or hook? Or would you prefer the stability of a purpose made wreath holder that hangs securely above your door without leaving a lasting mark?’ asks Danielle Le Vaillant, Head of Photography and Film at Cox & Cox. ‘If it’s the latter, decorative versions will bring extra personality to your home.’
Consider The Weather
Blasting winds this weekend? Then it might be time to rethink any dainty decorations. ‘Think about the weather your front door will be subjected to,’ emphasises Danielle. ‘If you don’t have the shelter of a porch, choose a sturdier wreath with less fragile embellishments (as these might be in danger of being shattered by wilder winter winds).’

The Fun Bit: How To Pick The Perfect Christmas Wreath
Choose Colours That Compliment Your Door
‘If your wreath is made up of traditional foliage, you’ll quickly discover that green goes with most things,’ notes Danielle. ‘But it may be that certain tones, such as more blue spruces with hints of eucalyptus or brighter green fir, complement your front door colour more than others.’
‘It’s definitely worth thinking about the overall colour scheme of your entrance,’ adds Nikki. ‘Bold, contrasting colours can make your wreath pop, while softer tones can create an elegant, understated look. Matching or complementary colours help your wreath feel like a natural extension of your front door.’
Find A Fragrance
You can also dabble in some scenting. ‘A scented wreath adds an extra sensory dimension to your décor,’ says Nikki. ‘Imagine opening your door and being greeted by the festive aromas of cinnamon, oranges, and fresh foliage – it’s an instant mood-lifter and a subtle way to welcome guests.’
Look For A Perfect Inner Circle
Slightly more practical – but don’t forget to take in the shape of your wreath. ‘The shape of your wreath is everything,’ emphasises Nikki. ‘A perfectly even inner circle ensures your wreath hangs beautifully and looks balanced, giving your door that polished, inviting appearance.’
Think About The Lighting
And for that extra glow, Danielle has just the thing: fairy lights. ‘With short daylight hours in the run up to Christmas, consider how your wreath will look once the sun goes down,’ she says. ‘A pre-lit wreath makes a charming welcome home for family and visitors alike.’
Don’t Underestimate The Power Of A Bow
And the finishing touch? A big, beautiful bow. ‘Set the tone for your entire Christmas scheme by adding a flamboyant ribbon bow in a colour that reflects this year’s theme,’ recommends Danielle, who also notes that this is ‘a great way to switch up a faux wreath year after year.’
‘Bows make the magic,’ adds Nikki. ‘Our signature Christmas wreaths wouldn’t be complete without them!’
(And if your appetite for bows still has yet to be satiated, think bigger: door bows are this season’s biggest design accessory.)

Fresh Or Faux Fir: Which Is Better?
An age-old dilemma – one that extends from the Christmas tree all the way to the wreath on your door. But is one better than the other? That depends on you and what your home can accommodate.
Fresh wreaths come with many perks, notes Nikki. ‘It’s the layers of fresh greenery, the texture of a handcrafted wreath, and the scent of pine filling the air,’ she says. ‘Pure Christmas magic.’
Danielle adds that ‘a fresh wreath will stay perkier outside than a real Christmas tree does in a cosy living room,’ but ‘a faux wreath will stand firmer and keep its shape in harsh weather.’
There’s also a practical element to consider: ‘As fresh wreaths get increasingly elaborate and hence more expensive, a faux wreath can be a justifiable investment if you use it year after year,’ says Danielle. ‘Simple additions – think shatterproof baubles, bells, bows and even fresh flowers – can make it feel different each Christmas.’
