Here’s some news to brighten a rainy Friday afternoon, just in time for the weekend, Claridge’s has unveiled two newly spruced-up suites by Bryan O’Sullivan (who design buffs may recognise as the designer behind The Berkeley’s bar). Gorgeously re-imagined in rose-tinted hues with a playful Art Deco-inspired nod to Claridge’s architectural heritage, the Mayfair suites are a dream post-pandemic stay. Here are some of our favourite design moments from this romantic makeover

Inside Claridge’s New Mayfair Suites

The Sitting Room

Who says pink and red don’t go together? A pair of russet coloured chairs with scalloped edges are the perfect foil to these pastel pink walls. Floor to ceiling art deco mirrors surrounding the fireplace and a blossom painted screen carry it all off to perfection.

The Master Bedroom

In the master bedroom, O’Sullivan has introduced a few more masculine accents with deep warm wood, clean lines and touches of leather. Blush hues and the occasional vintage silhouette stay in keeping with the Art Deco theme.

The Dressing Room

Cleverly encased in an alcove, this imagianative nook plays with scale and dimension drawing the eye up with a long narrow mirror and balancing  proportions with a petite, peachy pouffe.

The Second Sitting Room

Here you might spot a few more of O’Sullivan’s quirky references to Claridge’s Victorian heritage – like the decorative fire surround and autumnal velvet upholstery. Sculptural brass wall sconces and a glass chandelier create a more contemporary riff.

Claridge's bathroom

The Bathroom

While more traditional in style, the Mayfair suite’s statement marble bathroom hits all of the right notes for us. Surrounded by gleaming mirrored surfaces this elegant tub is the perfect spot for a Sunday soak with the papers, surrounded by bubbles.

The Rainbow Chandelier

Though sadly we can’t add this one-off 1950s pastel rainbow Murano pendant to our online baskets, we predict Claridge’s  is going to start a trend for multicoloured lighting. Watch this space.
