Take a glance at any antique or preloved furniture platform, and you’ll find classic Ercol pieces in high demand. Ditto on the wishlists of our savvy interiors readers who loves the timeless midcentury look.

But now the beloved British furniture maker (which was started in the 1920s but grew to prominence post-WWII when it was commissioned by the government to make 100,000 low-cost Windsor chairs) has teamed up with John Lewis to create an all-new and exclusive collection for the department store.

The 14-piece range is made in Ercol’s Buckinghamshire factory, combining traditional manufacturing techniques with modern technology. The collection comprises dining tables, chairs and occasional pieces crafted from solid timber and using dieback ash. Like the vintage Ercol furniture that is snapped up in antique shops now, each piece is designed to become a future heirloom, to be loved and passed down the generations.

Nicola Waller, John Lewis Furniture Buyer, says: ‘Our brands share similar values and ideals, both celebrating UK craftsmanship and supporting sustainability efforts through usage of sustainable materials, considered construction and timeless, enduring design.’
