Year-round golden hues
It might have first made a splash in spring, but multiple seasons later and syrup blonde is still a hit in the salons. And, with cold weather just around the corner, we’re craving the warm glowy hues of this shade now more than ever.
What Is Syrup Blonde?
‘Syrup blonde is a high shine, luxe golden blonde that illuminates your hair palette, and enhances your skin tone,’ explains Marlon Hawkins, Artistic Director at Brooks & Brooks Salon. ‘Classically, blondes sit in a neutral to cool palette – but this shade is about embracing warmer hues to brighten, rather than compromising condition with strong lifting.’
Blonde never really goes out of style, but this year it’s had a huge revival thanks to celebrity endorsements from Zendaya, Jennifer Lawrence and Sabrina Carpenter. ‘Shine has never left trends,’ agrees Marlon. ‘And this illuminating shade gives a luxe high polish shine to the hair and that’s why it is the most desirable shade.’

Who Suits This Shade?
‘This illuminating shade works amazing on all skin tones and hair types,’ says Marlon. ‘On super cool skin tones this shade may cause more contrast but depending on the individual’s style, would create a unique style.’
How To Ask For Syrup Blonde Hair In The Salon
‘I personally think letting your hair stylist know that you are open to warmth can start your syrup blonde hair journey,’ suggests Marlon. Make sure to also bring plenty of reference images for your stylist, so that they know which shades you’re most drawn to.

How To Maintain Syrup Blonde Hair
When it comes to looking after blonde hair, there are a few care steps you can add to your routine. ‘You’ll need a good hair care routine at home to maintain the tonality of the colour,’ confirms Marlon. ‘Think blonde-specific shampoos, conditioners and treatments.’ For a broader range of maintenance tips, see our guide here.
What Next?
As fir the future, expect more warmth. ‘I can see syrup blonde evolving to include more apricot hues,’ muses Marlon. ‘People will also level up the warmth and dip their tones into copper realms, especially as autumn and winter set in.’
