Explore the sights of Wales on board this five-day train ride

The rail renaissance is here to stay – particularly with all the exciting new train travel experiences popping up across the country. New for this year is a trip from The Steam Dreams Rail Co., which will take guests on a five-day journey through the most picturesque landscapes of Wales – from wild rivers to mountains, pretty villages to green meadows.

The Welsh Dragon: Steam Dreams’ New Train Trip

Taking place from 15 – 19 September 2024, The Welsh Dragon will depart from London Paddington, taking a scenic route through Shrewsbury and along the Cambrian Coast Line before weaving through the mountains of mid-Wales. The train will then journey through the famous two-mile-long Barmouth Bridge, past the ancient capital of Wales, Harlech, and arriving at Pwlhelli for sunset.

From here, passengers will be transferred to hotels in Snowdonia, where they’ll stay for three nights. During this time, there will be opportunities to get involved with excursions, including visits to Bodnant Gardens and castles at Beaumaris and Penrhyn. Then, it will be time to begin the slow journey back to London, with the return leg including a stint on the esteemed Heart of Wales Line, which is rarely used for passenger charters.

Various different packages will be on offer on board, including the famed Pullman Dining, which will include special dining experiences helmed by Executive Chef, Nicholas Allen. Alternatively, you can opt for First Class Hospitality, which includes perks like champagne and nibbles.

Train travelling by the British sea

Steam Dreams Rail Co. is renowned for its luxurious and nostalgic train experiences, which see guests travelling around the UK and Europe in restored vintage carriages – complete with stellar views, top-class food, drinks and more.
