In Brief: The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024

Last night, hoteliers from across the globe came together in London to discover which 50 hotels had officially been deemed the best in the world. Hosted in the historic Guildhall, a glittering ceremony led to the announcement of 2024’s World 50 Best Hotels, spanning 37 destinations across six continents.

Snagging the top spot is Capella Bangkok, a luxurious, 101-key property in the Thai capital. Having opened in 2020, the grand property has climbed a whopping 10 places from number 11 in the 2023 list thanks to its lush gardens, elegance and waterside location.

‘It gives us enormous pleasure to share the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 and to celebrate Capella Bangkok’s ranking as No.1,’ says Emma Sleight, Head of Content for The World’s 50 Best Hotels. ‘This extraordinary hotel is a rare oasis in the middle of Thailand’s bustling capital, offering world-class service while retaining the intimacy and personality of a boutique hotel – making it a worthy winner of the top prize.

Coming in at number two is Passalacqua, an idyllic 18th-century villa on the shores of Italy’s Lake Como. A boutique property with only 24 rooms, the hotel also bagged the Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel Award 2024.

Number three went to the Rosewood Hong Kong which towers over the city’s Victoria Dockside, one of 19 Asian hotels to make the cut, the most of any continent. Bangkok itself, as well as bagging the top spot, secured positions 12 (Mandarin Oriental Bangkok), 14 (Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River) and 26 (The Siam), solidifying its reputation as a global travel hub.

‘This year’s dynamic list underscores the appetite for a range of experiences, from busy city breaks to far-flung escapes, and honours the dedication and passion of the staff who make these exceptional experiences possible, while highlighting the remarkable breadth of talent in the industry worldwide,’ Emma adds. ‘We look forward to the continued evolution of The World’s 50 Best Hotels in 2024 and beyond.’
