London Named Among World’s Most Tranquil Destinations

If you were describing London, it’s unlikely you’d use the word peaceful – particularly if you’ve experienced the Northern line during rush hour, or Oxford Street on a Saturday afternoon. The UK’s capital is undeniably hectic, busy and fast-paced, yet a new study has named it in a list of the most tranquil holiday destinations.

New List Highlights World’s Most Tranquil Destinations

The research, undertaken by parking provider SkyParkSecure, looked into factors like the number of spas, nearby beaches, air pollution levels, and nature and wildlife tours – with London coming in seventh place.

While the city might not scream calm, it scored particularly well on the wellness front, with a high number of spas, plus the most yoga and Pilates studios out of all the destinations. London is also home to lots of green spaces: from the big hitters like Richmond Park and Hampstead Heath to smaller, lesser-known gardens.

In first place was Crete, the largest island in Greece. With its glittering seas and laid-back vibe, this one is much more obviously tranquil than London – and the study counted an impressive 227 beaches on the island, plus a high number of of hotels offering yoga.

It was followed in second place by Phuket in Thailand, another island renowned for its white sand beaches and swaying palm trees. Dubai came in third place, scoring well on the beaches front as well as the nature and wildlife tours. You can find the full list of winners below.
