Plus, the best boots to invest in now

We don’t know about you, but we’re in our boot era. There’s the ankle, the cowboy and even the thigh-high – but our attention this season is set on the middle ground: knee high boots.

The Country & Town House Responsible Buyers’ Guide

While Birkenstocks and Crocs may have been a contender for shoe of the year in 2023, the unwavering popularity of quiet luxury over the last year has us thinking. While trends may come and go, classics stay on top for a reason – you never stop wanting to wear them. And when it comes to footwear, our tootsies crave timelessness in the form of a good pair of boots.

Knee high boots have been a fashion staple for many a wardrobe since at least the 1950s and 60s (thank you Mary Quant), and have proved time and time again that they are adaptable to any trend and any decade. From fictional style icons like Andy Sachs and Carrie Bradshaw to modern real-life trendsetters like Hailey Bieber, Emily Ratajkowski and Beyoncé – we’re convinced that knee high boots will always kick their way up to the top.

When & Where Can You Wear Knee High Boots?

Despite what some say about them being reserved for winter, knee high boots can be worn throughout the year. Armed with the power of upgrading any look from casual to considered, they can be worn in spring with jeans and a shirt, in summer with a cute mini dress, in autumn with a cosy jumper dress and in winter layered up with a thick, woolly coat and scarf.

As for the ‘where’, knee high boots can go pretty much anywhere with you (as long as it’s not a snowy mountain or the beach). We’re a big fan of styling them up for the office with a crisp mini skirt suit, as well as pulling them on over a pair of jeans before heading out for dinner with friends.
