The biggest climate conference in fashion makes a return this May

We’re all now very familiar with the devastating impact the fashion industry is having on our planet, accounting for 2.1 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2018 (around four percent of the annual total) alone. One of the biggest bodies looking to tackle this is the Global Fashion Agenda, which is set to present another instalment of its Global Fashion Summit this May. Here’s everything you need to know about the summit, and how to get tickets for this year’s convention.

A Guide To The Global Fashion Summit 2026

What Is The Global Fashion Summit?

Presented by the Global Fashion Agenda (GFA), the Global Fashion Summit is the world’s leading conference for sustainability in the fashion industry. First taking place in 2009, the summit brings together some of the industry’s leading voices and changemakers to host discussions on the environmental, social and ethical issues that impact fashion, people and planet, as well as ongoing pieces of legislation that are currently under discussion both within the EU and worldwide. It’s an interactive conference spanning two days that encourages people to get talking about the ways fashion can improve.

Moving from country to country, the summit is held annually in Copenhagen as well as internationally at alternating venues. Some of the biggest names in fashion, spanning design, marketing, sourcing and top management, attend each year.

What Is The Global Fashion Agenda?

A non-profit organisation dedicated to helping the fashion industry adopt and execute a more sustainable way of thinking, the Global Fashion Agenda is committed to turning the current business model on its head in order to protect biodiversity and reverse climate change. Since 2009, it has been organising the Global Fashion Summit to help bring people together to accelerate change.

What Is The Theme?

For 2026, organisers have decided on the theme ‘Building Resilient Futures’. With last year marking the first time global average temperatures exceeded the 1.5°C threshold set by the Paris Agreement, the event theme was created to recognise this moment as one of reckoning – with the fashion industry being asked if it will remain resistant or adapt to change.

‘Building resilient futures means embracing a plurality of perspectives,’  said Federica Marchionni, CEO of the Global Fashion Agenda. ‘There is no single roadmap, only context specific pathways that must collectively lead towards a just and regenerative fashion system. Whether you are a policymaker, designer, manufacturer, innovator, investor, or changemaker, your role in shaping the future of this ecosystem matters. I encourage all attendees to choose a word that captures the future they are striving to build and bring that perspective into the Summit content.’
