The MUA-approved makeup hack stops your sunglasses from leaving any marks behind
Sunglasses marks getting you down? The solution could be closer than you think. Here, an MUA shares all her tips for preventing those pesky dents.
Why Do We Get Sunglasses Marks?
We’ve all been there: you indulge in the sunny weather with your favourite sunglasses on your face, only to take them off later in the day to reveal huge red sunglasses marks making dents in your foundation. And with no way of getting rid of them seamlessly – without waiting for the marks to fade, of course – the dilemma becomes all the more annoying.
Sunglasses (and glasses, for that matter) typically leave marks on our nose as a result of the pressure exerted by the nose pads. If your glasses are too tight or the nose pads are too small or hard, they can dig into the skin and cause irritation and redness – a dents in our makeup.
‘There is nothing more frustrating than when your sunglasses leave marks on either side of your nose. However, the solution to stop this from happening might be sitting in your makeup bag already,’ says Mel Trierweiler, a makeup artist for Revolution Beauty.
How To Stop Your Sunglasses From Leaving Marks
The solution in question? Baking powder – aka, setting powder. ‘To prevent sunglasses marks, simply apply a bit of loose baking powder to the bridge of your nose and the inner frame of your sunglasses,’ says Mel. ‘This creates a barrier, absorbs excess oil and keeps your make-up from transferring.’
The makeup artist goes on to explain that baking powder, ‘can be tapped directly onto your sunglasses frame and the bridge of your nose’ after giving your sunglasses a wipe in the morning. ‘It is also important to clean your sunglasses every morning, as leftover oils can break down your makeup and cause marks.’
And for a little extra help, she recommends you, ‘apply setting spray to your beauty blender before dipping into the loose setting powder, as this can add extra grip and a long-lasting hold. It instantly locks your look in place and leaves your complexion with a shine-free finish.’
But what about if you’re on the move? Pack some powder and a beauty blender into your bag, says Mel. ‘Using a powder puff or beauty blender makes reapplying simple – no need to use your hands.’
