Bookings are open – so you’d better be Speedy
The chicest way to travel? With a monogrammed Louis Vuitton bag slung under your arm. It’s been 130 years since designer Georges Vuitton created the fashion house’s signature Monogram – a symbol that has since become synonymous with craftsmanship, savoir-faire and luxury travel. And now, the house is bringing this legacy to London, with an immersive hotel-style pop-up opening in Mayfair this April. Here’s everything you need to know about the Louis Vuitton Hotel (and how to make a reservation).
Hot Opening: The Louis Vuitton Hotel
Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s get one thing straight: you can’t actually stay at the Louis Vuitton Hotel. Created in honour of the LV Monogram’s 130th anniversary, this is a temporary pop-up that will celebrate the legacy of five of Louis Vuitton’s signature bag designs: the Speedy, Keepall, Noé, Alma and Neverfull. Opening for just two months, the immersive townhouse concept in Berkeley Square will be the only one to exist in Europe.
So what can we expect? The multi-level pop-up space will dedicate rooms and floors to the aforementioned bag designs. Visitors will enter the Louis Vuitton Hotel via the Keepall Lobby, a space celebrating the house’s foldable travel bag, first introduced to the world in 1930. From there, they can make their way upstairs for champagne and nibbles at Café Alma; the culinary experience, named after the brand’s Art Deco-inspired creation from 1992, will be serving up two-course luncheons, afternoon tea and British patisseries throughout the week.
The second floor, meanwhile, is where guests can check in to one of two special suites: the Speedy Room and the Speedy P9 Safe Room. A tribute to the house’s most enduring style, the first room is dubbed ‘the complete Speedy experience’ – decorating every surface of a cosy hotel room with Speedy bags. In the second, heritage converges with contemporary style with a gold-drenched room dedicated to Pharrell Williams’ newer Speedy P9 (and the 180 meticulous steps that make just one bag).
A trip to the top floor invites guests to the Neverfull Gym. Set amongst mirrored weight racks and workout equipment, the Neverfull sits quite comfortably here – likely due to its own weight-lifting credentials: weighing just 800 grams yet capable of carrying up to 100 kilograms.
And what kind of hotel would this be without a bar? With the day’s explorations coming to a close, it’s time for a nightcap at Bar Noé. The perfect blend of Parisian sophistication and London nightlife, this is a transformative space; by morning, a bright and breezy pitstop for a crisp glass of champagne, and later, a space where music (curated by well-known DJs) thrums through the night. It’s an apt space for Louis Vuitton’s Noé, a bag that is said to be able to carry five bottles of bubbles – four upright and one upside down in the centre – and guarantee a rather merry night out.
And it’s not long now until the Louis Vuitton Hotel will be ready to welcome its first guests: the pop-up opens its doors on 24 April, with its run extending into early summer.
