A million girls would kill for these clothes

A million girls would kill for a spot at Runway – meaning that if you can’t confidently strut through the office in your sky-high stilettos, then you’re out on the streets. Anne Hathway’s Andy Sachs may have been fishing cerulean jumpers out of a clearance bin when she first started, but when she donned those Chanel boots she secured her spot amongst the fashion elite. From that gorgeous green coat to those page boy hats, the original Devil Wears Prada film is full of iconic looks. And the sequel is no different.

Want to dress like you’re a Runway employee? Now’s your chance to buy-up some of the most grounbreaking looks from The Devil Wears Prada 2, with key clothing items and accessories going under the hammer with Christie’s New York. The items up for auction will include pieces worn on-screen by core cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, as well as new faces Simone Ashley and Lady Gaga.

Taking place online (at christies.com), the auction will be held from 1 to 15 September 2026. For those interested in spying the film fits up close – but without the funds to add them to their wardrobe – a free public exhibition of the items will be held at Christie’s New York at 20 Rockefeller Plaza from 8–13 September, alongside the exhibition for Handbags Online: The September Edit.

The online auction was conceived, and is being supported by, Meryl Streep, who also led the charge for a similar charity auction after the success of the first film. This original auction was put on by Streep in aid of Dress For Success, a charity providing professional attire and support to women striving to achieve economic independence. Held entirely on eBay, the auctioned items included a Valentino silk chiffon blouse, a Prada dress, and a Bill Blass suit.

This time around the auction is being held to raise money for the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) – the financial threats facing the worlds of journalism and fashion being a key theme of the second film. Speaking on the auction, Streep said: ‘Please join us as we celebrate Truth and Beauty, Beauty and Truth! The Devil Wears Prada spectacular Global Auction of Shoes, Bags, Gowns and Glamorous Experiences, live via Christies, to benefit The Committee to Protect Journalists, and The Council of Fashion Designers of America! Get your gorgeous on in time for fall and bid up big!’

In addition to the online auction, Christie’s is hosting a cocktail party and live charity auction in collaboration with the CFDA and CPJ. Unlike the online auction, this in-person event will be invitation only. Taking place on 10 September during New York Fashion Week, fashion pieces and film-inspired luxury ‘experiences’ will be auctioned to further benefit the CPJ and the CFDA.

So what’s up for grabs? One key highlight includes the Gabriela Hearst Niki Dress that Andy Sachs wears to the Hamptons. A geometric rainbow of colour, she famously stains it while at Miranda Priestley’s house (the stain comes included in the sale). Also going under the hammer is a prototype of the red Valentino Garavani Rockstud pumps worn in the film’s trailer, signed by Meryl Streep. Plus, the The Bad Binch TongTong by Terrence Zhou feather dress Lady Gaga wore in the music video for RUNWAY, which she filmed with Doechii.

Other favourite items include a Dries Van Noten tassel jacket, Vhernier necklace and ring, and a black and white Schiaparelli jacket all worn by Miranda Priestley; the Elsa Peretti Bone Cuff (worth $107,000) and a Dior suit worn by Emily; plus the Dolce & Gabbana pieces worn at the designers’ Spring/Summer 2026 fashion show by Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley. Want to sport your love of cerulean? A slightly more high-end cerulean jumper from J.Crew (worn by Hathaway’s character as a nod to the first film) is also up for grabs. That’s all.
