Nick Mohammed To Star As ‘The Host’ In The Traitors On Stage

An official theatrical adaptation of the nation's favourite game is slated to land in 2027 – here's everything we know so far
After huge viewing numbers from a faithful British audience, naturally The Traitors series 5 and The Celebrity Traitors series 2 are en route this winter – and it’s safe to say we’re excited. Fresh news from the castle: The Traitors is being adapted for the London stage by the very same team that brings the concept to life in the Highlands. Here’s what we know – plus when we will get to see it.
The Traitors On Stage: What Do We Know?
It’s safe to say this whopping success of a television series is going nowhere soon. But it’s not just on our TV screens that you can find The Traitors. Christmas is an especially merchandised period with themed greetings cards, knitted sweaters and even branded crackers flying off the shelves. There’s also an official Traitors boardgame, and since the series commenced in 2022, similarly backstabby party games like Mafia (or Town of Salem, or Werewolf) have experienced a resurgence in popularity. In London, fans can even enjoy The Traitors: Live Experience, an official immersive version of the series in which everyone gathers at the round table and is assigned to be a Traitor or a Faithful.

Next The Traitors will be heading to the London stage for a major theatrical adaptation, masterminded by the producers of the TV series, Studio Lambert, in partnership with theatre-TV-film makers Neal Street Productions, who have worked on London shows spanning The Lehman Trilogy and The Motive and the Cue to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’ll be called The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal, and will be performed at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on the West End.
‘Taking The Traitors from screen to stage is a hugely exciting next step for this much-loved brand,’ says Studio Lambert’s CEO Stephen Lambert, adding that Neal Street Productions is ‘a true theatrical powerhouse’.
‘Faithful fans should expect an intense, joyful night out as we reveal a thrilling new hunting ground for our Traitors,’ he quips.
There’s a team of ‘brilliant faithful theatre-makers’ behind the scenes, adds Neal Street’s co-founder Caro Newling. The production is currently being penned by John Finnemore, who is best known for writing Cabin Pressure and season 2 of Prime Video’s fantastical series Good Omens. He’s working in tandem with director Robert Hastie who is no stranger to the London stage, having recently worked on the likes of Operation Mincemeat and Standing at the Sky’s Edge.

What Is The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal About?
Penned by John Finnemore and directed by Rober Hastie, we are told The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal is a cycle of five new plays, each playing out an entire game of The Traitors, from the Traitors being picked to players being banished and eventually a winner being crowned.
Each of the five versions begins the same way, but who is picked as Traitor or Faithful changes every night from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, the audience decides who will wear the cloak, and their choice determines which of the five plays unfolds that day.

Who Will Star?
This just in: Claudia Winkleman has passed the baton to one of the very best British Faithfuls in Traitors history. Celebrity Traitors finalist Nick Mohammed is taking on the role of The Host in all five cycles of Acts of Betrayal.
‘At first, I didn’t want to believe that a series of fictional plays based on The Traitors could ever contain as many brilliant twists and turns as the real thing – or be quite as compelling,’ Mohammed says in a statement. ‘But John Finnemore has crafted an absolute masterpiece: a cycle of five plays that are each as funny as they are moving, and of course, deeply, deeply unpredictable! And under the direction of the brilliant Robert Hastie, I couldn’t be more delighted to be joining such an original and wildly ambitious show.
‘To take on Claudia’s role, as it were, is not just a privilege but a real challenge as an actor – I simply don’t have enough hair! But I will do my utmost not to disappoint,’ he adds. ‘Either way, this time round, I promise not to let down the whole nation right at the very end. Now let the game begin…’
When Will We See It?
The Traitors – Acts of Betrayal will open at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 11 May 2027.
