For the first time in its history, Claridge’s has opened a café – and of course it’s beautiful. Architect John Pawson is behind the interiors, which showcase his signature minimalist aesthetic: think white walls and a pale terrazzo floor, jazzed up with leather banquettes, ash wood custom furniture and black and white photographs lining the walls. Food is equally Instagrammable, with a focus on crepes alongside perfectly crafted pastries, which are laid out in rows amid a central glass counter. And to top it all off, the cafe has an art theme – sitting alongside the hotel’s gallery of the same name – with paper pads and pots filled with pens and pencils dotted around the room for those feeling inspired.

Palm Vaults

When it first opened on Hackney’s Mare Street in 2016, Palm Vaults quickly rose to fame – with fans queueing round the block to get their taste (or snap) of the action. No surprise: with its hanging plant baskets, exposed brick walls, artistically decorated lattes and drool-worthy pastel cupcakes, the café is an Instagrammer’s dream. Think 70s Miami, with the palm theme extending to the takeaway cups and even the loos. It’s not all style over substance though, with a vegetarian menu featuring everything from smoothie bowls to banana bread and avocado on toast.

Peggy Porschen

With its picture-perfect pink flower façade, the flagship Chelsea Peggy Porschen might just be the prettiest bakery in London. Elton John, Madonna and Kate Moss are all fans, and for good reason. On its website Peggy Porschen describes its cakes as ‘edible works of art’: prime grid material. The interiors are equally photogenic, with a standout pink bar alongside pretty design details like velvet upholstery, blush antique mirrors and pastel terrazzo table tops.

Milk Beach

Sydney is renowned for its breezy café culture, which Elliot Milne has brought to London with Queen’s Park hotspot Milk Beach. Perched on a cobbled mews street, with a jazzy exterior and plants flanking the entrance, it’s Instagram material even from the outside. Inside is equally cool: all pale wood, whitewashed walls and natural woven lampshades, with an Australian-inspired menu serving food from breakfast through to dinner.

EL&N London

Flower wall? Tick. Alternative lattes? Tick. Pink interiors? Tick. EL&N is a millennial dreamworld, billing itself as the ‘most Instagrammable cafe in the world’. Helmed by Alexandra Miller, the first branch opened in Mayfair in 2017 – and now there are outposts all over the world. All follow a similar style (think: pink everything), with variations in design quirks. The original has a wall of hearts with a neon sign saying ‘I love you a latte’, alongside a glitzy ceiling display made with disco lights. There’s a dedicated section on the menu for ‘Instagrammable lattes’, to enjoy alongside beautifully designed cakes and lavish brunch dishes.

Minnow

Clapham locals will know Minnow for its pretty exteriors a green flower-bedecked façade and Parisian-style tables perched over the fringes of Clapham Common. But inside offers more understated snapping material, with rattan chairs, oak tables and polka dot flooring. It’s open from brunch through to dinner, with plenty of cosy corners perfect for date night (just make sure they got the photographer memo).

Saint Aymes

Located near Hyde Park, Saint Aymes is of a similar ilk to El&n, a floral pink-hued paradise that was designed for selfies. Founded by sisters Lois and Michela Wilson, it has the feel of a whimsical garden, with flowers everywhere, pastel furnishings and vintage art pieces lining the walls. But perhaps even more impressive is the ‘edible art menu’, which features creations like the ‘Unicorn Bubblegum Milkshake’ – a blue milkshake topped with 24ct gold and candy floss, plus the most aesthetically pleasing afternoon tea you’ll ever see.

Darcie & May Green

Sure to shake up your Instagram feed is a snap of Darcie & May Green, the Paddington branch of the Aussie-inspired Daisy Green Collection restaurant group. It’s housed across two brightly coloured sister vessels moored on the water, both of which feature art from pop artist Peter Blake, known for designing album covers for The Beatles. Inside there’s a tropical theme, with an excellent brunch menu filled with vibrant food platters and fun cocktails, which also photograph well.
