The UK’s First Entrepreneurship Diploma: What is it?

Sitting in 250-acres in Godalming Surrey, this school took residence in Charterhouse in 1611. A renowned co-educational school that accepts children from 13 to 18 years old. Now, the school is able to offer its pupils a new diploma that is the first of its kind.

The First School to Offer an Entrepreneurship Diploma

Charterhouse is the first school in the UK to allow pupils to take an Entrepreneurship Diploma, creating a new generation of business leaders.

Starting in September 2023, Charterhouse pupils will be able to take a level three qualification in Applied Entrepreneurship alongside their other subjects. Completion of the course will gain pupils sixteen UCAS points.

Pupils will learn through classes, case studies and guest speakers. With AI being used to provide advice and feedback to the students.

Head of Entrepreneurship at Charterhouse, Sandip Patel, said: ‘The Diploma will give our sixth former problem-solving skills, adaptability and employability.’

She added: ‘The addition of AI learning is a particularly significant innovation. Providing our teenagers with an initial framework for how to begin working effectively with AI will be a huge support in the years ahead.’

How will learning be supported?

Charterhouse have opened a new space called The Hub. This is an area where pupils can work in groups and was designed to mirror the working spaces of universities and offices.

What programmes do Charterhouse offer?

The Charterhouse Entrepreneurship Diploma is part of the FutureU programme. This is a programme that was created to offer pupils beyond-the-classroom courses that will be beneficial to them after leaving school. For instance equipping them with transferable skills, finance knowledge and information about employment.
