Burberry Pays Homage To Its Gabardine Roots
Burberry has long been the go-to label for all variations of (badly behaved) British weather. The heritage label has been kitting out Brits with rainy staples for 170 years now, making even the dreariest of days feel sartorially elevated. And, to mark the milestone, Burberry has just released the Gabardine capsule – a collection that pays homage to the house’s signature fabric.
Created by Thomas Burberry himself in 1879, gabardine is renowned for its rain and weather-resistant properties – making it the prime choice for all walks of life, from explorers on Antarctic expeditions to Londoners wrapped in a trench coat on a rainy day.
For the new collection, the house’s outerwear heroes are reimagined in brushed cotton nylon gabardine – think parkas and down-filled styles to quilted, Harrington and bomber jackets – ready for modern explorers and everyday adventurers to take town and country by storm. These are joined by chunky ribbed knitwear, hoodies, joggers and T-shirts that have been detailed with gabardine panels and trench elements (including Burberry’s famed epaulettes). Keep an eye out for the Landscape Sweater, which features a scene of rolling hills and valleys inspired by an archival Burberry design.

Anya Hindmarch Unveils New Concept Store In Collaboration With Boots
London’s quirkiest designer reopens her revolving pop-up store for another season – and it’s just as weird and wonderful as ever. And for the first time, Anya Hindmarch has teamed up with high street hero Boots, bringing her recognisable playfulness to a limited-edition everyday essentials range, all priced between £5 and £10.

The new collaboration will sit on the shelves alongside new additions to the Anya Brands line, including pieces inspired by Berocca, Advil, BAND AID Brand, Imperial Leather and Nurofen – this is a health and beauty counter, after all – and the latest rendition of the Universal Bag.
‘This is a truly iconic collaboration for me,’ said the designer. ‘Boots is part of the very fabric of the UK. The chance to play with, and ‘Anya-ise’ everyday toiletry essentials has been the most fun project. I hope it will animate bathrooms and bring smiles to people’s mornings in January, when we will all need a lift. Our village wouldn’t be a village without a Boots…’

The Princess Of Wales Will Hand Out First Royal Warrants This Spring
It’s official: new royal warrants are on the way. The Prince and Princess of Wales will soon be stepping into a new role – joining the King and Queen in handing out royal warrants for the first time.
Confirming the news last summer, the Princess of Wales’ private secretary, Ian Wright, said that: ‘Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate British industry, creativity, and skills through the granting of warrants.’

But who will get the title first? The Princess of Wales has shown plenty of interest in a variety of brands over the years – we round up some of her favourite fashion labels here – but her definitive list has yet to be revealed.
Until then, all we can do is wait – and speculate. For our forecast of potential royal warrant holders, see here.
