How to recreate the royal look

Ever wondered how the Princess of Wales built up her iconic wardrobe? The royal, who has snagged the top spot as the family’s most stylish member, is known for setting trends and wowing fans with her outfit choices. The secret? A network of trusted, talents designers spanning from luxury to high street. Below, we round up some of the brands that Kate Middleton loves.

The Country & Town House Responsible Buyers’ Guide

What Is Kate Middleton’s Style?

The Princess of Wales is known for her clever style choices, which often combine classic design and the moment’s biggest trends – while still carrying an air of sophistication befitting a royal. Kate’s wardrobe does employ a global roster of brands and designers, but you’ll often find the princess showcasing homegrown talent from the UK (a preference which comes in handy on some of England’s rainier days, when a coat and wellies are needed).

Kate Middleton’s events wardrobe is perhaps her most famous, and is made up of everything from state dinner-appropriate gowns, tiaras and archival jewellery to smartly tailored suits, raceday hats and heels. Her ‘off-duty’ or casual wardrobe, on the other hand, typically consists of crisp, light-coloured shirts and jeans, knitted jumpers, jeans, casual dresses, trainers and boots. But regardless of the occasion, you can expect the Princess of Wales to look smartly dressed and elegant.

Which Brands Does Kate Middleton Wear?

Clothing Brands

Self-Portrait

London-based label Self-Portrait is synonymous with feminine tailoring and elegant design, making it a go-to destination for the Princess of Wales when it comes to formal occasions. Our favourite looks on the princess was a glittery white bouclé jacket from the brand (pictured above; unfortunately now sold out, but you can find similar jackets from the brand here), which she wore while promoting the annual Royal Carols: Together at Christmas carol service, and a lime green dress she wore to the Wimbledon Ladies Finals in 2023.
