Barbour crosses the English Channel with it latest collaboration with French Maison Chloé, unveiling a gorgeous capsule collection of coats and accessories.

Barbour and Chloé Unveil New Outdoorsy Collaboration

British heritage brand Barbour has been on a roll this year when it comes to collaborations, having previously teamed up with GANNI on two new collections and with children’s character Paddington Bear to promote its Re-Loved Christmas offering. Barbour’s latest venture is no less impressive, as it sees the brand team up with French luxury label Chloé on a new capsule collection for Spring 2023.

Not only is this Barbour’s first collaboration with Chloé; this is the first time in the brand’s 128-year history that it has teamed up with a luxury womenswear Maison. But the two labels share a lot more in common than we think.

Sustainability is a core value for both Barbour and Chloé: the former, known for its commitment to circularity and recently celebrating ‘a centenary of re-waxing’, and the latter having become the first luxury fashion house to achieve B Corp status in late 2021.

There’s also a more sentimental connection. Chloé’s Creative Director, Gabriela Hearst, mentioned she has fond memories of her father and step-father (both gauchos) wearing Barbour jackets to work on the family ranch in Uruguay.

Such commonalities have helped create a collection that will no doubt land itself a place on your Christmas wishlist. The ready-to-wear capsule has been designed by Chloé, with reference to Barbour’s archives (which go all the way back to 1910), and the accessories have been produced by Chloé using Barbour materials.

The result? A collection of three garments – the Dany coat, Dustyn jacket and Hadrien cape – two bags, two sets of boots, a silk square scarf and a bucket hat. Each design combines styling elements from each brand, from the iconic wax jackets styled with feminine ruffles to create winged silhouettes to the contemporary boots lined with tartan check.
