Barbour Teams Up With GANNI On Two New Collections

This international collab is celebrating urban heritage

Britain meets Denmark in the latest collaboration to come from luxury fashion brand GANNI, which has joined forces with UK heritage brand Barbour to release not one, but two new collections.

Barbour Teams Up With GANNI On Two New Collections

Barbour is marking its first collaboration with affordable luxury brand GANNI today, with the launch of two new collections: a ready-to-wear mainline collection and a ‘Re-Loved’ collection of upcycled and reworked outerwear pieces (previously seen on the runway at GANNI’s Copenhagen Fashion Week SS23 show).

The main collection, which consists of two coats, four jackets, a skirt and two bucket hats, is a homage to the hometowns of both brands. Simultaneously celebrating the craftsmanship, heritage and longevity of Barbour’s South Shields and GANNI’s Copenhagen, the collection draws on the stylistic signatures of each brand to create a new visual language. Think earthy tones, classic style and the certified organic waxed cotton synonymous with Barbour, with flashes of vibrant colour, extended collars and bold logo patches from GANNI.

Alongside the main collection, the two brands have worked on a limited edition ‘Re-Loved’ line. Working with reworked and repurposed Barbour jackets, GANNI has tranformed each piece with new silhouettes, fabrics and deadstock materials. The results is a blend of Barbour’s classic designs with GANNI’s flair for colour, patchwork and embellishment. The Re-Loved collection will be available in a limited run of 50 jackets and coats, each of which are completely unique (and won’t be replicated anytime soon).

‘I’ve always been a big fan of Barbour,’ said Ditte Reffstrup, Creative Director at GANNI. ‘Their outerwear is so iconic, you just want to keep their pieces forever, the design is so timeless and the quality is simply that good. It’s been such a fun process working together on these two collections, they each have a super distinct expression. We share a deep commitment to responsibility, which made this collaboration even more meaningful. We created something super playful and full of contrast that still stays true to both brands’ DNA. Working with open minded creatives that value craftsmanship is really what gets my beat going.’

‘Extending the life of our garments has been at the heart of our business for over 100 years and it’s been exciting to work with GANNI as we both share similar brand values,’ adds Paul Wilkinson, Group Marketing Director and MD USA at Barbour. ‘Our collaboration is in two parts, a mainline collection that is all about relaxed off duty dressing and an exclusive Barbour x GANNI Re-Loved range, pieces of which we were proud to have included in the GANNI show at Copenhagen Fashion Week this summer. This upcycling initiative forms part of our Wax for Life programme which brings together all of Barbour’s unique wax services under one umbrella name and enables our products to be used for many years, minimising their impact on the environment. This aligns so well to the vision and ethos of both our brands.’
