Take a peek at these incredible designer pieces

There’s nothing more exciting than a designer closet sale – especially when it involves Chanel. This year, we’ve been treated to the likes of a celebrity edit from The RealReal, as well as a dedicated Chanel auction at Bonhams. If you’re still looking to get your hands on some haute couture, this upcoming auction in Paris should definitely be on your radar.

Celebrity closets are guaranteed to be filled with treasures, and the wardrobe of real estate entrepreneur and French socialite Mouna Ayoub is no different. In fact, Ayoub (who was previously married to Saudi businessman and billionaire Nasser Rashid) owns  a jaw-dropping 252 Chanel pieces. The good news? All of these items will be auctioned off this month in an exclusive sale organised by Maurice Auction in Paris, alongside British fashion auctioneer Kerry Taylor.

The sale features Chanel designs by the late designer Karl Lagerfield, spanning releases from the early 1990s up until 2014 – and you may recognise multiple pieces from runway looks modelled by stars such as Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer. The majority of the pieces that Ayoub is selling have never been worn; she recently told Vogue that she began to build up her personal Chanel collection in the 1990s, driven by both a love of the brand and a fascination with the craftsmanship involved with haute couture.

Among the pieces available in the sale will be an embroidered evening coat which reportedly took 135 hours to create – with a further 800 hours required for the intricate Lesage embroidery – which is expected to sell for between €150,000 and €200,000.

You can also shop a silk crepe dress finished with striking gold chains, which formed part of Chanel’s 1992 collection and is predicted to fetch approximately €12-€15,000 at auction. (If this item looks particularly familiar, it’s likely because Lily Rose Depp wore a version of it at the 2019 Met Gala).
