Christmas Jumpers For Women

Boden
When it comes to Christmas jumper options for all the ladies out there, the options are endless. You have your playful printed numbers, traditional Fair Isle prints, knits decked out in tinsel and glitter, and even some classy cashmere pieces to choose from. As for the brands on our radar: think Bella Freud, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Brora and Boden.
Christmas Jumpers For Men

Joules
Don’t worry, the men in your life won’t be left out this year. Whether you’re more Santa or Scrooge when it comes to festive dressing, there’s bound to be some kind of knit that will take your fancy. A classic selburose knit in neutral colours can last you all winter, an après ski theme can get you through the off season, and festive graphics look their best throughout December.
Christmas Jumpers For Children

Trotters
And last (but certainly not least), we have the kids to think about. While teenagers might be lurking in the women’s and men’s departments come December, those 12 and under usually have a full spread of their own to consider. For festive garments you’ll treasure for years down the line, opt for British heritage labels like Trotters and Jojo Maman Bébé (both of which we hear have been a hit with the royal family over the last few years).
Why Do We Wear Christmas Jumpers?
Aside from being a stylish wardrobe staple come festive season, people have been wearing Christmas jumpers for hundreds of years – and for multiple reasons.
The very first Christmas jumpers came about in 19th century Scandinavia – although at that point, they were simply a winter warmer. The tradition saw women in Norway, Sweden and Iceland hand-knit jumpers – many displaying the now famous selburose snowflake – for local groups of fishermen so that they could tell them apart at sea.
Fast forward a few decades, and the Christmas jumper become a chic association of the après ski style set. The new glamorous backdrop of snow-dusted slopes made the knit all the more fashionable throughout the early 1900s.
And today, it’s now a seasonal mainstay – with the Christmas jumper serving as a mode of celebration and charitable point of action. Global charity Save The Children set up Christmas Jumper Day back in 2012, inviting everyone in the UK to wear festive jumpers in the lead up to the holidays to raise money to help children around the world with their health, education and safety.
