Adolescence has scooped up 13 nominations total
Big news for Brits: 15-year-old Owen Cooper has made history stateside as the youngest ever star nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Emmy Awards following his gripping, twisted turn as a school boy murderer in Netflix’s Adolescence. Cooper, who will next star in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, is up against stiff competition, including Javier Bardem, Bill Camp, Rob Delaney, Peter Sarsgaard and his Adolescence co-star Ashley Walters.
Reflecting the impact of Jack Thorne’s show, which attracted attention from the government and was rolled out in schools nationwide at the start of the year, the Netflix original one-shot drama has scooped up 13 nominations total at the prestigious television awards. (It’s with reluctance we point out Adolescence doesn’t have the most nominations at the ceremony: Severance leads with 27, trailed by The Penguin with 24 and The White Lotus with 23). But which other Brits have earned a mention? Here’s what you need to know.
