These Pizzerias Have Been Voted The World’s Best

Where can you find the world’s best slice of pizza? A new list from 50 Top Pizza has outlined the 100 best pizza restaurants all over the globe, and, naturally, Italy scored high. But eateries everywhere from Tokyo to Brazil got a slice of the action too – plus a few names here on home soil in London. The results are in… read on to find out who came out tops.

These Are The World’s 100 Best Pizzerias

Unsurprisingly, two Italian spots tied in joint first place: 10 Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria in Naples, and I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci in Caserta. The first is situated in the town of Bagnoli, helmed by the famed Diego Vitagliano, and the awards highlighted its ‘light and very digestible’ pizza, ‘skillfully topped with the perfect balance’. I Masanielli – Francesco Martucci, meanwhile, is a relaxed and unassuming spot serving world-class pizzas by its eponymous founder, who has been perfecting his craft since a very young age – at just 14, he was already a pizza making connoisseur.

New York put on a strong showing in the list too, with five restaurants named including last year’s winner, Una Pizza Napoletana, which came in second place.

Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona claimed the third spot, followed by The Pizza Bar on 38th in Tokyo, found within the Mandarin Oriental hotel and offering a front-row seat of the pizza-making action.

The UK’s highest ranking pizzeria is 50 Kalò in London, which came in at number 14. The restaurant is located near Trafalgar Square, headed up by pizza maestro Salvo and serving an array of seasonal pizzas cooked to perfection using the perfect light dough. Another London name to feature in the top 50 is Chiswick favourite Napoli on the Road, the brainchild of chef founder Michele Pascarella – who was also named best pizza chef in the world in the awards.
