Grab your cloaks, people: The Traitors is back. But this time, there are a few familiar faces playing the game. Is There Going To Be A Celebrity Edition Of The Traitors?

Yes, the UK version of The Traitors is getting the celebrity treatment, with a new nine-part series on the way. The news follows the huge success of the first three seasons of the murder mystery reality series, which viewers praised for the normality and diversity of contestants.

The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level,’ Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC, said on the news.

Over in the US, however, celebrities have always played a part in The Traitors. In season 1, also filmed in Scotland like the British version, ordinary Americans were spliced with celebrities, while the second and third seasons featured only celebrities – including famous faces from our side of the pond, former House of Commons Speaker John Bercow and Love Island star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.

Who Will Star In Celebrity The Traitors?

The Traitors usually stars 22 players (or, if more, they’re eliminated pretty swiftly as we saw in season 3). However, it seems a cast list of just 19 celebrity contestants has been leaked, with filming reportedly underway. According to The Sun, the following celebrities will star:

  • Stephen Fry
  • Alan Carr
  • Nick Mohammed
  • Tom Daley
  • Joe Marler
  • David Olusoga
  • Niko Omilana
  • Mark Bonnar
  • Jonathan Ross
  • Paloma Faith
  • Joe Wilkinson
  • Clare Balding
  • Lucy Beaumont
  • Ruth Codd
  • Tameka Empson
  • Celia Imrie
  • Charlotte Church
  • Kate Garraway
  • Cat Burns

There’s quite the spread across British stardom: world-famous Traitors fan and distinguished thespian Stephen Fry is arguably the biggest name – though TV host Jonathan Ross, singer Paloma Faith, Olympian Tom Daley and acting legend Celia Imrie are also heavyweights. They’re joined by Line of Duty star Mark Bonnar, Ted Lasso star and comedian Nick Mohammed, EastEnders star Tameka Empson, sports presenter Clare Balding and TV presenter Kate Garraway, among other sportspeople, comedians and even a YouTube prankster.

‘We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game,’ Mike Cotton said on behalf of the BBC when the celebrity edition was officially announced. ‘Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too. There’s a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.’

Other stars previously rumoured to appear in the series included Friends star Courteney Cox (a friend of presenter Claudia Winkleman), Rylan Clark, Kathy Burke, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Alison Hammond, Jason Manford, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Liz Truss and EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt who wrote on Instagram during series 2, ‘If they ever do a celeb version of #traitors I would walk to Scotland to be part of it!!’.

Will any of these stars emerge and bring the tally up to 22? We will have to stay tuned.

In the US, celebrities have spanned reality stars, Olympians, actors and more, including Cirie Fields, Kate Chastain, Ryan Lochte, Chrishell Stause and, of course, Ekin-Su and John Bercow.

Who Will Present Celebrity The Traitors?

What is The Traitors without Claudia Winkleman? We expect the British legend to return with her iconic countrycore wardrobe in tow.

What About Ordinary The Traitors?

Don’t worry: The Traitors series 4 is still set for broadcast starring ordinary Brits, with filming set to get underway this summer, probably after the celeb version has wrapped. We expect The Traitors series 4 to kick off on British screens in January 2026.

Release Date

No news just yet on when we can expect to see Celebrity The Traitors on the BBC. If The Traitors series 4 airs in January 2026, we imagine the celebrity version will air either in winter 2025, or sometime in spring 2026.
