If, like us, you’ve been eagerly awaiting the return of Pinterest’s trend forecast, today’s your lucky day. The picture-pinning platform has released its ‘window into the future’, showcasing the trends anticipated to make a splash in 2024. Pinterest creates one of the most accurate prediction reports on the internet, with 80 percent of its forecasts coming true the following year. Want to stay ahead of the curve? Pinterest Predicts is Pinterest’s annual trend report, which it collates using global search data from over 482 million users. These are the dominant search trends from the last year which are then used to suggest what will be popular IRL next year. These trends put a playful spin on the hot and thriving, with exciting mood boards and witty titles (So. Many. Puns.) to keep you on your toes.
‘Millions of people turn to Pinterest each month to find inspiration for their next interior and DIY projects, and from their search terms we know what they’re planning to do and buy next – it’s a bit like having a crystal ball!’ says Matt Siberry, Head of Home at Pinterest UK. ‘Expect to see people go bold in 2024, taking home decor inspiration from bright colours and believe it or not, jellyfish. The coffee shop vibe is also coming home with people recreating the cafe experience in their own spaces.’
In 2023, trends were all about facing the future – from biophilic rainscapes and sea-derived superfoods to gender neutral parenting. You can find out all about last year’s trends here.
There are 23 trends in total forecasted in this year’s Pinterest Predicts – four less than last year’s 27 – spanning beauty, celebrations, entertainment, fashion, food and beverages, financial services, hobbies and interests, home, parenting, travel and wellbeing. Category: BEAUTY
While we may look a little blue in 2024, we certainly won’t feel it. Another trend hooked on nostalgia – think 1960s eyeshadow – blue beauty is set to take on an aquamarine shine, with Gen Z and Millennials leading the trend.

Throwback celebrations are in vogue right now, and will likely remain that way in 2024. Pinterest predicts that 70s-inspired weddings, complete with disco decor and hippy hen-dos will take the spotlight, with Boomers and Millennials taking to the retro dancefloor.

Move over Coastal Grandma, it’s Grandpa’s time to shine. ‘Grandpacore’ is about to be the hottest trend of 2024, emphasising eccentricities and vintage fashion with an individual twist. As Pinterest notes, ‘Think retro streetwear, chic cardigans and customised clothing.’

While the UK food scene is already something of a melting pot of foods and cultures, more literal fusion food is on its way. As seen by the recent Padella x Crisp Pizza collab (that’s pasta on pizza, to you), it’s expected that mashup dishes will be all the rage – think burger quesadillas, pizza pies and carbonara ramen.
