Paddington Bear Star Opens Nursery Extension

Star of the Paddington Bear films, Hugh Bonneville, opened the nursery extension at Highfield and Brookham Schools.

The children were all in awe of meeting Mr Bonneville, who also played Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey.

Mr Bonneville read an excerpt from Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear tale to the children.

The nursery was extended due to a strong demand in light of their excellent reputation.

The new extension has enabled three-form entry throughout and the space measures 100-square metres inside. The building also has a retractable wall to allow a space to be closed off for the youngest children to nap.

The extra space will be used for activities such as art, ballet, swimming, Spanish, cookery and woodwork.

Highfield Head, Suzannah Cryer, said: ‘These are exciting times for the school and the nursery is an amazing place to work and learn. It’s bright, lively, inspiring and full of imagination, so who better to officially open the exciting new space than Mr Brown himself?’

Highfield and Brookham Nursery was named Top 20 Nursery in the South East two years consecutively by Daynurseries.co.uk as well as being rated “excellent in all areas” in their recent ISI report.
