Going Crazy For Corsage? You’re Not The Only One

Prom paraphernalia is out in full force this season

The humble corsage: haute couture red carpet style or a teenage fashion faux pas? If you can’t get enough of this retro trend, then read on. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite corsage blazers, shirts and gowns below – and uncover why everyone’s suddenly talking about them…

As always, keep the planet in mind when shopping. Re-wearing old clothes is the best way to be sustainable, but if you can’t avoid it then shop consciously at responsible retailers, as well as rental and resale sites.

Going Crazy For Corsage? You’re Not The Only One

Long associated with the teenage prom scene, the corsage doesn’t have the coolest reputation when it comes to fashion. It came as quite a surprise then, when it became the biggest trend to come out of the 2023 award season.

The recent hype surrounding the corsage started with none other than Harry Styles, who rocked up to the 2023 BRIT Awards in a black velvet peplum suit. The suit, a Nina Ricci by Harris Reed piece, was topped off with a giant flower choker-corsage. As is the case with many of the singer’s outfits, it quickly went viral online with searches for ‘corsage’ peaking over the weekend.

Corsages have continued to work its way through various red carpets – and not just in menswear. The next celebrity to tackle the trend was Euphoria star Zendaya, who attended the 29th annual Screen Actor Guild Awards in a corseted pale pink Valentino gown adorned with matching rosettes. Crafted in various sizes to better trail down the length of her skirt, the actress showed that florals for spring CAN indeed be groundbreaking (when done right).
