A Regency Revival: Why Are Tiaras Suddenly So Popular?

There’s only one thing to blame for our growing obsession with costume jewellery, empire gowns and pastel interiors: Bridgerton. The series, which has had a chokehold on fans since 2020, has two new instalments in the pipeline – both of which will immerse us in the fantastical costumes, interiors and romances of Regency Britain.

The latest must-have item to join the Regency renaissance is the tiara, a decorative headpiece worn by ladies of the ton (and queens) for balls and special occasions. Ranging from ornately lavish crowns to delicately simple headbands, tiaras are once again making the rounds as a statement style piece. From weddings and parties to runways and TV shows, tiaras are here to stay.

The rise in all things Regency hasn’t slipped the notice of the world’s luxury jewellers, either. London stalwart Susannah Lovis Jewellers, which specialises in vintage jewellery, has seen the trend flourish first-hand.
